I use the citadel basing kits & texture paints for my bases.

Looks good. That using the slate in one of the kits which you then paint?
Been doing the base of my knight - Ill post a picture tomorrow. Using the gw buildings kits, cut up into small bits and bobs to look like he's crashed through a building.

Yeah that's slate bits glued on & painted black. Stirland mud texture paint drybrushed with terminus stone. Then the slate is drybrushed with mechanicus & then dawnstone. Finally snow flock mixed with PVA splodged on & a couple of the grass tufts added.
I did a really boring base for my knight. But planning on getting my second one in a couple of weeks, going to repose the legs & do something fancy for the base
