Batch scripting has it's place, it all depends what you want to do.

It sounds as though you are a little sketchy with this area of computing. Here is a little terminology which I am sure comes up in the lines of what you are trying to do, telnet client / server, ftp client / server and a batch for command line access... along those lines anyway.
