Hi

I have a batch of Jpegs which I have resized to go on a website but despite me having tested several of the pics before going ahead with a batch resize in Photoshop, some of them have ended up larger than the 200kb limit the site has.

does anyone know of a batch compressor (free please) which would allow me to quickly compress them all to below 200kb??? Not too bothered about quality as they are only going to be viewed at a small size on the website.

Any help much appreciated.

Just use photoshop again? Automate!

Part of my job is to process about 2000 images... I certainly don't do it by hand...

how would I create a an action to use on the batch processing in Photoshop to just recompress the jpegs so they are all less than 200kb?

I'm using Photoshop version 5.5 btw

Hmm thats an older version of PS. To create an action, all you do is hit "record" in the actions tab, then do what you would to a single file, then hit stop. Then use automate and select the action you created, point to the directory, gloss over "open file" and "save as" to folder, then run.... boom 2000 images processed in 10 minutes depending on processor speed.

Can tell it's getting towards the end of the week, of course, it's easy to do in photoshop. Have not a new action, which I have just set running which will work fine.

Really not got my brain switched on today

For future reference, are there any free bits of software that can compress a batch of Jpegs to a set file size?
