In theory I dislike baths. They take longer, and your filth shares the water with you. But not having a shower for a while made me think again. I actually discovered that I quite like lying there in the warmth. It's much more relaxing than having a shower
Yes, there's still the 'bathing in your own filth' thing. But that's totally irrational. Just think about it... all that filth was previously on your skin in a *much* more concentrated form. As you clean it gets diluted thousands of times (possible more given that skin is fairly 2 dimensional), and much of it gets 'locked' to soap. So it's daft to worry about it. After all, if we could actually see the filth in our daily environment (toilets spraying poop all over your bathroom, shoes tracking in all sorts, keyboards collecting god only knows what) we'd all develop OCD! Or get used to it, because it's perfectly natural.
Well, unless you're a candidate for a visit from Kim & Aggie.
Having said all that, given a choice I'd rather have a shower. Standing there with hot water pounding down on you can be every bit as satisfying as relaxing in a bath. I love it... though my electricity bill doesn't. I suspect a bath might be cheaper sometimes!

PS Gimpy makes a good point about a bath potentially allowing a valuable temporary escape from hectic family life.
