Need to replace asap as has stopped. Power is there it's 100% the fan. I think it is a Marley Basic Fan NDx100B White (Dia) 100mm

Here is a pic I took.

Would be looking too replace with something from Screwfix as I get 20% off. Noise is not an issue and it's mains powered.

Thanks

One of these...looks like its wired just on/off with the light or permanently on as 1 core not used so just a basic 12.99 fan will work

Or you can use a pullcord model and turn on/off just when you need it so no noise in the night etc if its on a wall within reach

Or you have an extra core to use a timer model, assuming the other end of the 3 core is connected up right

Would like to confirm which core does what as well as using brown and grey makes its look like permanent live and neutral used to run all the time, but guess its more likely to be on/off with the light which you would expect black to be switch live and brown unused etc

Ps. I know you said noise isnt important but this is a bit more expensive and move a bit less air but much quieter

It does turn on and off with the light, best way with the kids. It does have an isolation switch. Am unsure what the black offers.

Seams 85m/hr is about the std for 100mm job. Would prefer more if possible

That will work fine... this moves more air 1st one to move more air from screwfix sorted low>high price wise

Edit : forget that hole is bigger

This moves more air and same size hole more expensive and much larger casing also centrifugal so better for long duct runs

If its a pain to change then i wound guess just the larger fan and ducting would be an improvement, not sure if just the outlet being smaller would constrict it too much

Just a case of an adapter then off the bigger fan

This one looks pretty good and the video also looks good

Have found it for £32 here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Enviroven...arden_Hearing_Cooling_Air&hash=item3f19b80932

Just a case of is the 3 core cable setup correctly and how to check it is and then maybe wire it up so

Used those envirovents before they really are quiet and good quality

Is that what it should be for the setup?

So if I have live on the brown and black i can do a timer

Not working cos hotlinked

But normally at the fan you would have...
Brown - perm live
Grey - neutral - sleeved blue
Black - Switch live - sleeved brown

Just need to test it with meter to see which is which if not sure... yours must be brown as switch live and maybe black is perm live, or not connected up

If black isnt perm live then look behind the isolation switch to see how its connected up - they might not have run a perm live to the iso switch or left the black disconnected there

Will check tomorrow thank you

I couldn't wait. I checkes and the black is not connected at all.

So the live and then the black should be in which output on the switch. I have L1 and L2

You have a fan iso switch that looks like this?

Its basically just a straight through switch that disconnects all conductors when off

So its just
perm live to perm live
switch live to switch live
neutral to neutral

so you must be able to see the brown and grey from the fan going into the switch and black just loose not connected?

Is there a spare terminal on the output side? and does the spare terminal have anything on the input side? if so then that is most likely the perm live - may aswell switch the brown to that and put black where the brown was

If theres no other core coming into the switch then thats more complicated

Pics would help

Correct it looks like that. Have attached pics. I think it's the cable at the top

Connect both blacks into the l2 terminals, put the black into the same side as the grey and brown from the same cable, from 1st pic black pointing up goes in lower l2 and vice versa.

Then test and hope its got power other wise gonna have to trace the end to light fitting/jb and find out how its connected there, got a feeling if they left the black just loose behind the switch its likely to be dead

You mean the black lose on the light switch? I can pop that off as well and have a look?
