Hey all,
I did a post around this time last year (https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...ecast-alternative-or-something-else.18988221/) where I was looking to move away from the Google eco system for our speakers and towards something such as Sonos or Wii M (Or the new Home Assistant integrations)
Well, I stalled and did nothing and then our bathroom shower decided to turn the bathroom and hallway into a wet room so now the opportunity has presented itself for me to start with the audio in the bathroom.
I've had a look at various posts from the past few years and so far I am liking the look of a pair of Kinetic E130-LP speakers or a single Monitor Audio C165 T2. If I go with the Kinetics I will likely place them near-ish to the wall away from the shower however with the Monitor if we go with the single speaker I wasn't sure if it would be better to stick it in the corner of the ceiling or to put it more up and center near the light fitting.
Likewise from the thread last year I just wanted to check if the WiiMs are still the better choice when it comes to expand-ability for audio groups, the system will be used with Home Assistant in order to manage and cast to it moving forward so if there are any other systems out there that are budget friendly then any recommendations would be awesome.
For the whole thing, I like music but I'm probably not an audiophile, I'd like it to "Sound decent" but I will be honest to me the Google Nest Home speakers (The bigger ones) sound great so if the quality sounds anything like or close to that I will be super happy!
The plan of action is the following:

The plan of action is the following:
- Buy and fit speakers in the bathroom
- Buy a cheapo amp for now and wack a Chromecast on it to get them up and running
- Buy a more permanent solution for the amp (WiiM, something else etc) and test to see how it works
- Slowly start replacing the other rooms moving forward (Likely Bedroom, Living Room, Office then Kitchen)
