Ok.. I know im going to get the Message board grammer nazis and neg's on my back :'( so first of all sorry for spelling/grammer.

This is a rough idea for the story im not trying to write a script lol

Ive just watched batman begins & dark knight and was wondering who else could be in the 3rd (and final) batman? As the films done is a more realistic way the only vllians i could see being in it would be The Penguin (as a maffi/crime boss) or the ridler (with the below story) .. i cant belive people are actully wanting catwoman lol.. anyway.. here goes!

But maybe make Edward (the riddler) a cop. He’s a hard working cop who helps Gordon (but is an old fashioned cop) and looks on EVERYTHING as a crime which should be punished to the full extent. After many years of service (and since batman has turned up) he feels the system is treating criminals too lightly! He starts getting more and more frustrated (also maybe hint at a back story of OCD tendencies)

One day he is off duty and comes across A his girlfriend? (or friend) who was brutally raped and murdered by Zaz from the first movie/comics) After a quick investigation and a corrupt court case the judge lets him off with lack of evidence. This pushes Edward over the edge.
He decides he should give zaz the punishment he deserves. He sets Zaz up in a (lack of a better phrase) ‘saw movie’ type prison, and writes a riddle on how to escape. If zaz doesn’t solve it in time he gets blown up (or something lol). The reason he gives the riddles maybe could be that he feels he has given zaz a chance. It could also be hinted at that he feels that criminals are uneducated, and if they get a tough riddle then maybe they deserve to live and have something to give to society. (also brings in the characters smugness/feeling he smarter and better than every one else which is explained in the comics)
After doing this and getting away with it.. he starts seeing his job as important. Unleashing his form of ‘punishment/judgment’ on the criminals that get away or slip through the corrupt system.. After a while the guilt starts turning him slowly Insane (also intensifying his OCD) and becoming somewhat deluded that he is the new ‘batman’ and hero of Gothem. This in his head allows him to live with murdering so many and to support in his head what he is doing is right.

After a while (11-12 killings) he starts noticing batman linked in to the criminals And see’s him as a supporter of the criminals that are ‘getting away with it’ He decides to try and bring batman to justice. He starts investigating further into ‘the Batman’. He discovers the true indentify of batman and goes to Gordan with his new information. When he arrives at Gordan’s office he rearlises that Gordan is still in with batman even after Harvey dents murder. Instead of going through the legal channels and seeing batman getting away with it. He decides to add bruce wayne to the list of his victims. He starts kidnapping Bruce waynes friends; Alfred, fox, Gordon and putting them in timed traps (after all they have been harbouring a known vigilante). He starts sending Bruce Wayne riddles on how to find them. On the last trap (Lucious Fox) bruce wayne is knocked out and put in his own ‘trap’ This time tho he also decides NOT to leave a riddle as Bruce wayne MUST be brought to justice no matter what. As he comes to putting batman in the saw like puzzle. He cant help but leave a riddle as not leaving a riddle would be a murder rather than his fair system and wants to prove he can outsmart the person who has been guessing his riddles. Bruce/batman gets out of the trap and the film goes on from there.

I know the riddler wasn’t a cop in the original story.

As the first film was based on ‘fear’ and the second on ‘chaos’ the third could be based on ‘choice’ Maybe even throw in Harley Quinn as villain for the first part of the movie. (unfortunately not getting to see her turned from good to evil) Showing that she had a choice not to turn into a criminal.

Doesn't really make sense to include Harley without the Joker, which you can't really do now Heath Ledger is dead...

2nd films theme was escalation, not chaos.

I want to see someone else try the Joker. I'm glad Nolan has ruled out Mr. Freeze.

I also think Red Robin or Nightwing would work really well in Nolans concept of the Batman mythos. I'd like to see that explored too.

Going to be hard for a new joker to replace Ledger, be good to see where they go with the next one.

It was a rumour during the making of The Dark Knight that the Joker we saw wasn't THE joker, just copycat/henchman of the real deal to see how Batman was act and learn from him. Hence why he never got his backstory stright or why his backstory never matched any cannon stuff

I really can't see that working. HL's joker was far too much 'Real Joker' to be just a copycat.

Not in an OMG he's amazing but the character overall was too complete. The backstory was clearly him just playing rather than not getting his story straight.

Im not so sure about the 'escalation' Ive read that on wikipedia and on a another film review site (may have been yahoo?) but read an interview (link from IMDB) and nohlan said it was based on 'chaos' The joker just doing ANYTHING to bring chaos to gothem for the sake of it with no alterier motive. The next movie would also have a theme.. this was just before the release of the movie and think the interview was with..E? ive heard it other places too (bbc's film review show... name escapes me for the moment) :/ so not so sure?

GOD i hope they dont bring red robin or nightwing into it -_- They just as well put arnold back in the mr freeze outfit, johnny depp in the riddlers outfit and have them battle it out with batman while catwoman (played by britney spears) watchs on and have done with it >< lol

I just love harley :D Wanted to crowbar her firm tight little arse into the story somewhere :D Just thought they could maybe explaine how the joker turned her in arkham (so he's still there in the background rather than just ignoreing him from the whole film) Have her taken down by batman in the first 10mins perfect :D

.. Who ever they got to play 'the New joker' would have to be DAMN good to pull that off! (ofc its just a rumor) i think theydupset a lot of people who count HL's performance as the jokers one of the best based on a comicbook character! Even beats jack Nicholsons (bad spelling?) and thats saying something :D

Morrisons treatment of Red Robin and the character of Nightwing in general are very dark. The whole thing of Bludhaven in the Nightwing comics was great reading, and Nightwing/Dick Grayson can be a very dark character. People need to get over this whole "Robin = camp" thing. It's just simply not true. Nightwing and Red Robin could quite EASILY slip into Nolans universe. Especially if they made Jason Todd the Red Robin.

As for escalation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Knight_(film)#Development

According to Nolan, an important theme of the sequel is "escalation", extending the ending of Batman Begins, noting "things having to get worse before they get better".[62] While indicating The Dark Knight would continue the themes of Batman Begins, including justice vs. revenge and Bruce Wayne's issues with his father,[63] Nolan emphasized the sequel would also portray Wayne more as a detective, an aspect of his character not fully developed in Batman Begins.[11] Nolan described the friendly rivalry between Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent as the "backbone" of the film.[60] He also chose to compress the overall storyline, allowing Dent to become Two-Face in The Dark Knight, thus giving the film an emotional arc the unsympathetic Joker could not offer.[61] Nolan acknowledged the title was not only a reference to Batman, but also the fallen "white knight" Harvey Dent.[64]

And also:

As we looked through the comics, there was this fascinating idea that Batman's presence in Gotham actually attracts criminals to Gotham, [it] attracts lunacy. When you're dealing with questionable notions like people taking the law into their own hands, you have to really ask, where does that lead? That's what makes the character so dark, because he expresses a vengeful desire.
Nolan on the theme of escalation

I never rated HL's Joker, just seemed like a damp squip and anti-climax after all the hype. JN's one was way way better.

The real Joker would have blown up the hospital while everyone was still inside.

i think the reason he didnt blow it up was so he could clear the whole building and get to harvey alone rather than having to sneak in - Also causes panic every one running about etc :D

I must admit never read that version of them characters so hey maybe they could work! I think it would be way bette than what people are pointing at at the moment to play the riddler (johnny depp) or catwoman (angelina Jole) Id much rather see brad pitt as mad hatter least he is a good actor lol
I may be a NOOB here but is RR related to batman in the comics? Its been SO long since ive read the Batman comics -_- Its such a shame Nohlan is looking to make this his last Batman hes done such an amazing job with series so far.

P.s just for the record i dont think Robin is camp!:D I think his Tv/film versions are camp. Altho chris Odonnel did do the best he could have with the script in B:Forever.

Jim Carey should be the joker

*runs*

Oh, cool, so it's a Saw movie with Batman in it. MAKE YOUR CHOICE.

Red Robin is initially the second Robin, Jason Todd. Who takes it's up after coming back from the dead. Shortly after he discards it and becomes Red Hood.

Currently the third Robin, Tim Drake, is Red Robin who took up the mantle after Bruce was killed in Final Crisis. A subsequent "battle for the cowl" takes place which has Jason Todd both being Batman and Nightwing at some stage, and is equally violent and sociopathic in both roles. Later the first Robin, Dick Grayson, becomes Batman and takes Bruce Waynes son, Damien Wayne, as Robin leaving Tim Drake to continue crime fighting in the guise of Red Robin.

If Robin WAS to come into it it could work quite well as Nightwing or Red Robin. Both Dick Grayson and Tim Drake had their parents killed and go through really dark times and Jason Todd is, well...down right insane, frankly.

As a side note, Tim Drake is a far better detective than Bruce Wayne ever was/could be.
