Seen Batman: Arkham Asylum advertised on steam for 75% off.
Decided to purchase the game, not expecting much from it. A few days later, and i'm totally addicted to it. I seriously regret thinking this game was overrated, and now am totally hyped for Arkham City! Who's with me!

Bought for the same price a few days ago, not installed yet because I'm not a batman fan but I've heard lots of good things about this. I think I'll wait until I have time to play it for a while.

I can understand your criticism but once I played the game I was like BEST SUPER HERO GAME EVAR!

I got it for the same price as well. Had already been planning on buying it at full price, so the bargain was just perfectly timed.

I've not had a lot of time to play it yet, but what I've seen and done so far, I love! Its especially brilliant when played with 3D Vision active.

Practically all reviews and opinions I've come across were written by die-hard Batman fans, so I know the game can't be downright bad. If it were, there'd have been an outcry.

But as worst-case scenario the game is passable and Batman friends are going ape**** over it because it doesn't suck all that much.

Personally I don't give a *** *** **** ** ****** about Batman, or any other comic characters either, so I wish I could read just one review written by someone admitting that he either doesn't like or doesn't give a crap about Batman.

Until then, I'm not spending my cash on this. Fanboys can cause a lot of damage and can be a real pain.

It's a good game in its own right. There is, however, a huge overlap between PC gamers and comic book fans, and even more so amongst those into gaming enough to end up as reviewers!

What can you say - geek is as geek does :)

I admit I am a fan of Batman, but not a hugely-obsessed geek fan. My geek outrage levels are generally quite low. Seriously.... it's an excellent game in its own right. It's dark, atmospheric, has superb characterisations and acting, it's paced well, and the combat is fun and remains engaging throughout.

At 75% off you refuse to spend a couple on pound on a game that is universally praised UNTIL you read a review saying its bad.

Bizarre.

I never read any Batman comics and have never been a great fan of Batman, I always thought it was alright but never amazing stuff, comic heroes never appealed to me, I bought the game on a whim after much praise and I really enjoyed it. Everything was excellent, from the combat to the secrets and learning more as a whole about Batman and the people in the world.

Very enjoyable, couldn't stop playing it until I finished it.

I'm not really a mega batman fan. I mean I liked a few of the movies and I used to like the cartoon series, but I've never read any of the comics. I would say that even taking out the Batman factor, the game is awesome. Its visually stunning, has great characters, action, plot, pacing. Its dark and gritty in tone. Its a masterpiece of a game.

Its no longer on sale at 3.75, but I wouldnt let that stop you. I would still pay full price for a game this good.

Also, it comes up on sale every 3 months ish and is usually sub-£5 so even if you don't want to pay full price for it (which you should, because its awesome) you can take a low priced punt on it :D.

It's a very good game, with extremely addictive combat, a good story, and plenty of secrets to keep you going. Now I pretty much never complete games even though I play a hell of a lot of them, but this game kept me going to 100% completion of the main game, and a lot of the challenge rooms (until I lost all my save data).

I also couldn't give a damn about super hero games (I don't care for the comics either), as they usually end up being rubbish arcade beat em ups requiring no concentration and seem far to comicy, they always feel like they are trying to capitalise on people who want to be super heroes. However the fun you can have and time you can spend perfecting your combat by timing your blocks, punches, throws, take downs, jumps, grapples, batarangs etc; all the while staying aware of each enemy, what they are doing, and knowing how you need to tackle each one is incredible.

The game has a great atmosphere with some good stealth sections mixed in too, definitely the best game I have played for years!
