Batman AK Wins Best British game @ Gaming BAFTAs

I think I have just the reaction you need:

London-based Rocksteady Studios walked away with best British game for Batman: Arkham Asylum, its third and final game in the series.

The first is definitely a typo but the second point is true. Rocksteady didn't work on Origins.

It is weird how a show that is so well done (great presenters, professional, no cringe) can get the main thing - awards - so terribly, terribly wrong. Fallout mediocrity winning ? Ridiculous. Fallout is my favourite franchise of all time, but what Bethesda is doing with it deserves zero awards.
Batman should crawl into a hole with how messed up the PC release was.
Rapture and Her story getting all the other awards...I dunno.

I know the muffed PC port badly impacted Batman, I was lucky and it only really seemed to be a problem in the car sections which sucked anyway, but these awards weren't just for PC games. It doesn't seem very fair to assess the quality of a game on the one platform where it didn't work very well.

As for best game of the year in 2016, the nominations were:
Fallout 4
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture
Life is Strange
Rocket League
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Which of those would you have picked over Fallout 4 and why?

Not Everyone's Gone to the Rapture that's for sure, a slow and drawn out piece of art college junk that told a terrible story in a terrible way with an ending that made me want to get in my car and drive it off a cliff.

I'm a pretty big Fallout fan but it'd clearly have to be Witcher 3. As has been said elsewhere, FO4 isn't a bad game, but it's definitely a bad Fallout game.

Why? I'm really enjoying it. It's more engrossing than even Fallout 3 was for me and far, far better than New Vegas which just seemed bland and boring.

It's the dumbing down and shallowness that's turned me off it. In the previous games you had skill checks, more varying dialogue paths, more story branches. Now it seems like you're shoehorned down a path with minimal variation and the dialogue responses have been reduced to Maybe/Yes/Enthusiastic Yes/Sarcastic Yes. It's the first time I've got genuinely bored with a Fallout game.

I might give it another go with the new survival stuff but I've given up on it having the same level of immersiveness that the previous two had.

I think the issue with Fallout 4 is that they don't appear to have put a lot of effort into pushing the series forward. It's just more of the same with a bit more shiny.

Maybe my impression is wrong but that's what it looks like, and why I've not bothered playing it.

I haven't played any of the nominated games come to think of it, apart from a couple of games of Rocket League. MGSV and Witcher 3 are on my 'pick up in a sale' list.

How the hell did everyone's gone to the rapture win anything?

The only awards it should win are "Best way to waste money award" or "walking simulator award" or "The game with the least content award"

Its fallout 3.75 at best. I enjoyed my 70 hours in the game but it never really added anything new. The game world felt a lot smaller but better looking. Settlements added little but frustration and poorly implemented its something that could have been so much better. The game also had the same old problems of the other Bethesda RPG based on the Gamebyro engine no matter how much they hack it up and say it the "Creation" engine, quests still break in common ways, animation is **** poor for a 2015/16 game, performance is low and a lot of the interiors are very blocking and copy and paste like in there design.

Now compared Fallout 4 to all those other game that where up for game of the year:

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Old franchise but with a new open world twist, refined gameplay made better
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture – Not everyone’s cup of tea but it was different and told a good story
Life is Strange – Episodic game done right did and told something different from the TT games like
Rocket League – Massive amount of fun something a little different, brought back some old joys and memory’s of the Micro machines games.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Need I say why this was a improvement over the Witcher 2 or any of Bethesda’s games

Not saying Fallout 4 was bad every other game on that list is more deserving to win GOTY, Fallout wining just screams pay to win to me.

Well deserved the batman one! Easily the best game I have played in a long time, superb voice acting, story, gameplay, graphics, soundtrack etc. etc. Sure it had it issues for the first few months (thankfully nothing as serious for me) on ONLY the PC but that aside it really was an excellent game underneath.

At least that over rated crap known as the witcher 3 didn't win best game! :D *runs away*

I'm hoping that some of the reasons Witcher 3 didnt win antyhing was due to them gimping down the graphics, I dont think it was but I really love Karma.
