Batman: Arkham Asylum

Just got round to installing this but got the no sound bug apart from cutscenes, it says my onboard Soundmax is not compatible, tried a couple of fixes off the net but non work ,anyone with a similar problem fixed it ?

Just completed this, not too bad a game although perhaps not quite up to the level of hype it has received (GOTY etc).

Good points:
-Very good production values, quite a slick package, time taken to put voiceovers in during gameplay etc
-Graphically it looks decent
-Framerate is high with PhysX disabled
-Decent amount of gameplay variety, I'm not a fan of platformers but it mixes in combat, platform, puzzles and stealth quite well
-Storyline is OK for the most part
-Decent characters
-Key hints are useful

The bad:
-PhysX performance hit isn't worth it
-Enemy AI is pretty poor... yeah, I know most of them are supposed to be mindless brutes
-Friendly NPCs are underutilised, would have been nice to have some of them fight alongside you
-Camera angle messes up at times, although that happens in 99% of 3d third person games to be fair

Anyone else get suckered in by the fake gpu artifacts? Thought the game had crashed so alt-tabbed to Windows, lol :)

I played this on the XBOX when it came out. Thinking of buying it for the PC now, to support the PC scene and also for the PhysX that people rave about in this.

As for the graphic glitch, I thought my xbox had RROD'd when that screen happened haha.

But yeah, absolutely loved the game!

thats what old cards are for, dedication to physics :P

But alas, this title is supposed to be very nice with physics, tearing cobwebs, whispy smoke, flappy cape \o/

All adds to the experience, and its a SP damnit, high frames arent necessary. 30+ is enjoyable.

I thought about installing my GTS320 to use for physx, seemed like a lot of hassle though and was worried about the performance hit in non-physx games (due to PCI-E lane dropping to 8x).

It's no hassle at all if your using win 7. Using my old gts 8800 512 for phys x, of course it's only for Batman AA and Mirrors Edge at the moment but it's better than it sitting in my cupboard I suppose. Although will probably take it out after I've had enough of those two games, just to decrease power usage and lower the case temps by a couple of degrees.
