I made some batter the other day to do mushrooms and sausages, as you do. It has occured to me, has anyone ever battered bacon? Spam fritters I suppose is the closest approximation in a chip shop, but why not actual bacon rashers battered and fried? Have I stumbled upon a millionaire scheme here?

The only thing bacon should be battered with is more bacon.

Perfection can't be improved on.

You're wrong there. The complete opposite is true. ANYTHING can be improved by batter.

Can't see it working, batter protects the inside. Your going to have soggy stringy fatty bacon. Rather than crispy goodness.

Or cook the bacon, allow to cool then batter it, that could work.

I think I underestimated the bacon fundamentalists. :) Bacon is a bit like the koran, open to radical interpretation with possible jihad if the hardline interpretation is threatened by infidels and their batter.
