Yeah they're likely not low self discharge. I won't buy those anymore as the low self discharge ones are so much better.

Those are a lithium cell and a circuit to drop down output to 1.5V but also allow charging at ~5V.

I should really use rechargeables, but I'm just not that organised and the initial outlay is higer.
My rule of thumb is cheap alkaline, usually around the four for a pound mark. While the better quality brands may last a bit longer they're often well over twice the price so not worth the extra. Also I use quite lot in radio mics, so they will usually get replaced before they have run out.
Zinc Carbon are complete rubbish. Years ago I was running radio mics on a show, and the director provided a load and insisted they would be fine. I used them for the dress rehearsal and half the mics didn't even last till the interval. After that the director came round to my way of thinking.

I run everything on eneloop rechargables, yes they cost a lot more to buy but you can recharge them 100's of times and its much better for the enviroment.
This. Been using Eneloops for absolutely years on everything, right down to my Tado Trvs. My smoke alarms are the only thing that use 9v AA’s as I don’t think eneloops are available in that form…it’s been ages since I looked.
