Battery on Android not reading correct

I bought a THL phone and was seeing a huge drop in battery power on the android monitoring software. 100%-1% in a few hours of use. The phone will then work about another 9 hours playing videos at 1%. I found if I do a hard reset as soon as the battery gets to the warning level (about 15%) it will then read about 55%.

Is this something to do with android? Is there any other software I can use instead of the default Android monitoring app?

Best way is to calibrate the battery, drain the battery until the phone turns off (when the battery is actually very low). Then, charge it to 100% in one go before turning it on. Drain again to 0%, and keep repeating the process a few more times until the battery meter properly reports the actual battery percentage. Sounds more like THL being lazy with battery calibration.
