Battery powered router?

Where do you people get your power from? :p In my long and laborious 20 years of life, I don't think I've ever experienced a black-out, minus the times where a fuse had blown.

And as others have said, get a 4-way extension. This is a weird sort of 'non-problem'.
 
the problem is the router cannot always be conencted to a live power supply - its not genius to think just put it onto a mains plug of its own - but as i;ve said its not an option to have its own mains plug or to have the mains plug on all the time
 
This is the stupidest post in the world
Just unplug your computer if you want it fully disconnected from the mains
and leave the router on
 
I was going to post something helpful but after wasting my time reading this I am going to commit suicide instead.

Seriously WTF, You NEED to explain why the router cannot be plugged into a power socket of its own.

oh he can explain, he has one socket, this has a multi plug attached, the router and PC are plugged into this multi plug. Whenever he turns off PC he turns it off at the wall, thus the router goes off as well.

He is without doubt a descendent of the playstation generation and so devoid of logic and practical knowledge that he gets stuck at the bottom of flights of stairs simply because he has only ever been shown how to go down.
 
A UPS isn't what you want anyway, since when you turn the power off they scream at you to let you know.

I can solve this issue for you:

  1. Plug router into switched mains socket
  2. Turn power to socket on when you want the internets to flow
  3. Switch off when you need to hold back the tide of the information super highway

Adding an extra device will get confusing I fear. It's easier to say "mash power brick against wall until metal prongs sink into holes and it stays there".

Its on an extension with my normal PC. The PC is off most of the day but the router must stay on all day

Connecting it to a seperate plug would be what I would do, but at the moment that isn't possible.

unless you're confusing "usb modem" with a router, theres no reason why you cant have your main PC off and the router left on.

jeez, is it so hard to understand the router cannot use the mains adaptor. why do you need the reason?

what if i said my house stops having electricity after 10pm and all the latops run off batteries

there - NOW can you think of a decent answer instead of trying to act smart?

because the plug wont be on - do you really think i am so stupid i havent thought about putting it on its own plug?

I WANT SEPERATE POWER!! Dang it! :rolleyes:
