Battery powered router?

WTF?

If you have a plug extension strip and if you're turning your PC of and also of at the mains why not just pull the plug out. Or just stop switching it of at the mains.

Is the assumption that perople are making correct?
Do you have a single plug socket with a multiple socket extension running from it that all your equipment is connected to?
Do you switch the computer off at the wall?

If the above is true, why do you not just switch the PC off using the power button on the case, leaving the router powered on?

because the plug wont be on - do you really think i am so stupid i havent thought about putting it on its own plug?

I WANT SEPERATE POWER!! Dang it!

So your parents cut the power to your room at night or something? none of this has any PRACTICAL sens....are you posting from prison?

Look the only way to tackle this seriously is simply as a logic feat.

You have one room, one power inlet. No access to multiplugs, or, given access, consider that the main feed to the sigle socket is cut for a specific period each night.

So our collective questions are

1)how long is the power of? ie what is the required lifespan (please note anything over a coupla hours is gonna mean BIG bucks)
2) some realistic answer as to WHY you cant plug a 2 plug-hole device into your oulet with independent switches for the two devices.

Honestly we could help better if we could understand WHY you could possibly need to turn the PC and router off at the same time. If for example someone else (next door neighbour who you steal power from, parent or gaurdian, prison officer etc) shuts it down why run the router and not the PC it seems somehow your power needs are tied to that of the PC.

Now if your not following me, and im trying to be nice and polite here (not to mention clear) Then theres something wrong with you.

It doesnt matter - it obviosuly cannot be done from a reasonable source.

I could give the router its own power outlet if I wanted to - but its beyond the point. I want it to have a power source thats independant of the plug system in my house.

You'll never know WHY I guess.

sounds to me like his parents cut the power at 10pm so he needs a UPS to run until the power goes on in the morning - other than that this thread is absolutely pointless and comical :D.

he said leccy, he's a scouser, by the powers of deduction i can assume that the poor scamp will have his leccy stolen tonight, as every night, to power the chop shop utensils across the estate.

Pooor little timmy, no router for you tonight :(

this has turned into a "motorway pile up" of a thread now, i know i shouldn't be looking at this thread, but i must know what the reason behind all of this is now!
