*** Battlefield 1 ***

Looks great. Couple of things I don't like is the UI looking like battle front and the sand storm thing. I find the scripted events just get old really fast.

Each to their own of course , I've been playing the BF series since the release of BF1942 almost 15 years ago and after watching the 4 live streamed matches last night of BF1 I am looking even more forward to it. Thought it looked absolutely awesome fun.

Same here been playing BF since 2002.

This looks like 1942 with a brand new skin/engine.

Should be fun and looking forward to it!

Just watching the Gamescon stream and ticket bleed occurs when the player respawns. If that is the case then it's good for teamplay imo.

Are you sure of that? Because the two commentators mentioned several times during the hours of the event that tickets only bleed from holding flags. Are you sure the ticket bleed you are seeing isnt just the bleed from flags being held? (well, I say bleed, I guess we cant use the term Bleed anymore as the tickets count up rather than down, er..what slowly trickles upwards? ...fountains. Ok, ticket fountains :D )

To be honest , I'm hoping its still the case that kills dont raise the tickets. I am sick to death in the existing Battlefields of seeing some guy who thinks he is some kind of phenomenal player because he sits in a tank/heli/plane and gets a huge K/D every game, whilst his team loses because flags arent taken. If the only way to gain tickets is to take and hold flags then hopefully we will see more objective based matches rather than stroke-your-own-ego-while-the-team-loses sorts of play.

Im pretty sure it didnt activate in the first game, because Westy mentioned it between rounds and the annoying woman seemed a bit odd about it, and then when it happened in the next round cue the OMG WHATS THAT OVER THERE!?! as if she wasnt blatantly aware and it hadnt been mentioned about 10min earlier even if she wasnt a stooge.

Im not a fan of them either, i'd rather they were less of a GameChanger™ event and just subtle sand clouds which come and go in 5-10sec, and without the heavy visibility loss. Make the world feel alive and dynamic, but these trigger events just feel scripted, even if its random. Im sure if it was more than 15min rounds, say 30min, a sandstorm is near enough guaranteed to happen.

Have they said what the warbonds are? I skipped Battlefront and i get the feeling it may well be overspill from that. I liked BFH's ability to unlock whatever you wanted, get vouchers to unlock a specific scope on any weapon, rather than being told you can access it when they say so, and apply the loadout you want when you've spent countless hours using an inferior loudout to get the kills to enable the decent stuff etc.
Im fairly sure they havent come straight out and said what it does, but if it matches something in Battlefront then people will have a good idea what BF1 will do with it.

I think warbonds work like you say, earn them then unlock whatever with them. Seen them used in the demo streams and that seems to be how they worked anyway.

According to what I read...

"as you rank up in Battlefield 1 you receive war bonds. These rewards can be spent on new weapons, attachments, and gadgets. Unlike Hardline, however, you can't just buy whatever upgrade you want. First you have to play the class and unlock the opportunity to buy the weapon, and then you can use the war bonds to make the acquisition"

So in essence a form of "currency"

Thx Gerard & Tombstone.

Not really sure i see the point in that, that makes it sound like its yet another requirement before you can use something. XX kills and warbonds.

I dont tend to try other weapons in BF because the stock weapon with ironsight is simply inferior to what got you access to the new gun, and to leave a decent gun with scope, grip, barrel you're comfortable with and jump onto another weapon with none of that, its a step backwards until you've got 50+ kills (and probably a couple hundred in the class to unlock the gun too), and theres no saying you'll like it anyway, so i tend to only use 2-3 guns from a class based on suggestions, the rest go completely unused because the game wont let me assess it.
At least with BFH i could take a look at a particular gun and unlock attachments and find out straight away. Maybe it sucks, but i know without putting too much time into it (not 50+ kills), and if i like it, great lets go.

Hopefully theres a bit more too it that isnt present currently, because that sounds a lot like BFH but without the voucher path to by-pass unlock requirements.

Just watching Levelcaps 1h raw footage video, and at 3m25 theres a 'hint' which says: Use your earned warbonds to unlock new equipment in the customisation screen.

Hopefully meaning it unlocks it, regardless of any requirements otherwise.

Video if anyones interested in seeing some proper footage

These videos make me realise how awful BF looks in 16:9!

Your part of the 21:9 master race (;)) too?

Nothing is more satisfying finding a video on youtube thats UW (and plays without double-boarders) and not 16:9, nothing! :D

Yes the female host mentioned it, not sure what time stamp it will be at.

I'll have to watch it through again because everything I've seen and everything I've read and feedback from Alpha so far has all indicated that tickets only raise from holding flags. Even watched a dev video just yesterday where he explicitly says that killing , deaths and spawning "do nothing at all to your teamscore"

Its one of the big plus points for me, so I really hope its not been changed

EDIT: I'm happy now, just watched another video of gameplay from a few weeks ago and can see in it that points only raise from flag holding. Also just rewatched a bit of the first match from Gamescon and can see there that everytime each side has the same number of flags, the points tick up at the same rate and stay evenly spaced, which I wouldnt expect if you were getting a point for each respawn too or losing one for a respawn. So I'm satisfied now that points only rise from holding flags :)

Have just pre-ordered willing to take the risk as im sure it will be a laugh with friends anyway ( almost any game can be made great with friends )

I have been a insider since the day you could become an insider and set my preference as pc on the day you could,

I am expecting to be able to play the beta on the 30th am i right in thinking that's the correct date for insiders provided that i receive a key?

Cheers!

Look at that last video at 14m45s in. He lines up against the wood barricade and for some reason the bayonet charge indicator comes up. Does this mean you could crouch behind a french or trench and go "over the top" with a bayonet charge? That could be a cool mechanic to watch.
