you shouldnt be able to repair inside.
it should be slower.
less damage.
also more weapons capable to take out tanks.

the problem is,many public player wont play with mentality of lets take out the tank.they look at their KD ratio and run.when any person knows if you work together they are not to hard to take down.

that needs factoring in.the public noob factor.:D

I agree with you on the shouldn't be able to repair inside (this one in particular I think is a bit silly) and it could do with being slower. I wouldn't want to see more weapons capable of taking out tanks though, there are already AT mines, AT grenades, the AT Rocket Gun, the static Cannons, other tanks and planes. I feel if there were any more then tanks would become pretty worthless, whereas in WW1 they should be scary things.

I will tell you what I don't understand though about the public player..in BF4, you see an enemy tank and what do you see next, a whole load of public players swapping to Engineer and using various lock on and non-lock AT weapons and so on. What you don't see in BF4, is a whole load of players trying to run around the tank throwing nades at it. For me, the problem doesn't lie with the tanks or the AT weapons, it lies with some peculiar difference in mentality between those BF4 players who go get an AT weapon class and the ones in BF1 beta who just don't.

me doing some tanking yes im not the greatest but 26 killstreak kinda says it all and im bad in em lol.:p

light tank is one shot kill.if you wanted to you could probably get 40-50 -0 quite easily if you decent and not bored.:D



Already had a few 50-0 streaks using the howitzer variant. :)
 
I think it is mainly due to the class name and effective anti tank weapons are unlocks. Engineer class does pretty much what it says on the tin. Rocket launcher from get go.
 
To be fair, BF1942 was pretty arcadey and floaty, especially those Tiger tanks which used to bounce about like they were on helium filled tracks :D

I dont mind the next one leaning more towards sim though, as long as its fun and preferably not modern warfare. As long as I find it fun though I would get it, if it becomes too sim like though, like Arma or Flashpoint then I wouldnt buy it because I simply do not find that sort of game fun.

Not at the time it came out it wasn't, by todays standards yes
 
I'd like to be able to use the AT rocket gun without having to go prone. They could balance it by having a massive first shot spread penalty (making it less likely it will hit especially beyond 10 metres). I find the terrain deformation makes it buggy to deploy sometimes, and in some circumstances, it would be nice to have the chance to get one off before getting mauled by the tank.

That's another good option, I know that you can use it on walls and crates and so on as well but being able to fire it without having to rest it on something would be good. As long as there was some sort of penalty like you mention, otherwise we would have people running about in BF1 using the AT rocket gun on infantry like RPGs in BF4.
 
Yup not adding the alpha or another map is an odd decision, given the amount of hate for this map. Surely for this demo, sorry beta... you would want to showcase the best map where there is a great variety of gameplay thus getting more pre-orders in.

I am still expecting them to give us one more map near the end, they have done this with every beta/demo for BF 3 (metro + caspian), 4 (siege and paracel), hardline and battlefront, (can't remember the names of the maps for those last 2)

Personally I wasn't a huge fan of the alpha map either, it played similarly to this in terms of flags i.e. one area with 2 flags close to each other having a cluster of buildings between them and then the rest of the flags spread further apart in more open areas (just slightly more cover and different elevations)

I'm not fussed about having only one map in the alpha, I am disappointed that they haven't showed us all the game modes.

Given how unbalanced rush can be on this map with so few players and so many vehicles, I dread to think what the other game modes might be like. Especially new ones if there are any.

It would also give them the chance to show us that even though the same base map was used for each game mode, they had modified the map for each mode so it actually worked rather than what we saw in BF3 and 4 which was that a lot of the game modes didn't play well on a lot of the maps.
 
Been using the at rocket gun to take out pesky snipers its great fun...but for even light tanks it only does 18 damage. one engineer can not take out a single tank using just at rocket gun.
They need to nerf the snipers heavly put some drop into the bullet.on rush it sniper v sniper and on attacker side they spawn 3 tanks sometimes.as engineer and medic you have no chance...

So knowing DICE, tanks will now be useless to the point of not worth bothering with.

There was nothing wrong with the tanks, the only people that ever moaned about them being OP were solely infy players that like to be able to run around and take out a tank all by themselves in seconds.

Once everyone has learned the game and got some decent unlocks for their classes as well as vehicles, tanks won't last long.

Maybe if people played a class other than scout... noobs in tanks wouldn't be able to dominate the map :p And this is exactly why DICE need to remove the hold LMB FTW and remove the retarded spread on your first shots for all weapons (shottie and sniper rifles not being affected) and go back to the good old way of tap and burst fire being king + nerf sniper rifles by increasing bullet velocity thus more drop and target lead required.

This is just another example of how they went through many changes regarding tanks in bf 4 getting to a point were they had a nice balance only to scrap all that and start from scratch again *sigh*

Personally I got no interest in anything other than those 2 game modes.

So far neither the alpha or beta map have impressed me at all, the beta map has to be one of the worst for the BF franchise imo, I would rather play 64 CQ metro on bf 4, heck even pearl market!!! :p

I did read they are only nerfing the light tank, not the others.

But as you say if people actually work as a team to take them out they don't last long. I've been on the receiving end of a squad of assault players they took me out really quickly when they worked together!

Hell even if the scouts used their K bullets more it would help!


The same with the train, people moan about it, but it 'only' takes about 9 - 10 AT mines on the track to kill it. You can take it out almost instantly if you really try.
 
Repairing inside a vehicle especially a plane is ridiculous, even more so in combat

No more ridiculous than the "health" of the vehicle magically regenerating because you are running away or taking cover behind something, i thought it was bad enough that infantry magically regenerated health but Dice took it to the vehicles as well...Even though long before launch of BF3 dice said it would only regen light damage, somewhere along the line that obviously changed.

At least with this repair mechanic the vehicle is immobilised and can't fire in the case of ground vehicles, and in the case of planes they can't turn or fire. So theres a bit of a penalty to using it.
