*** Battlefield 1 ***

i5 2500k @ 4.6ghz is always 100% CPU usage in this game with a GTX 1070, Bottleneck or not optimised?

Same with a 3570K @4.4 and a 980Ti. Multiplayer is very CPU intensive on 64 player maps. i7s hold a big advantage of i5s due to the extra threads.

I've been playing almost exclusively medic, its fun. You get lots of points and people don't really expect it as there are rarely medics.

That said this game is very well optimised, running a I7/980TI and a Asus ROG 34" Ultrawide at 1440p 100hz+gysnc and its smooth as butter.

New GPU is in. Been playing or a couple of hours - max settings (all ultra @ 1920x1080P) and the frame rate was rock steady at 60FPS. I guess it's locked to that as a maximum, which is plenty :)

Game now feels a whole lot smoother. Very pleased. Might have to go find some other pretty games to justify the purchase now :D

It would be locked to 60 if you have a 60Hz monitor with VSYNC on. The game engine will, however, give you as much FPS as you can drive, there is no hard max.

yeah, good gunning in the plane for me :D.

I think when we start getting team like that we just have to find a new server, the team balancer seemed to be doing naff all to sort it. Otherwise we will end up just with a night of straight losses like tonight.

First time I've ever been on the end player screen! Still, no bloody battle pack.

Agreed, after we get trounced once we need to find a new one, my win loss % is sitting at 66%, in BF4 I was 78%.

What is the best close range gun and side arm for the medic class?

I found the Selbstlader M1916 a very good medic weapon, very accurate and good size clip. For Close range maybe try the M1907 Sweeper.
Not sure about side arms as im still using the 1911 :p

I think they are working on reducing the overheads of the CPU thrashing, that said its only a real problem for me on 64 player maps, brings my 4690 @ 4.5Ghz to its knees.

I have been working my way through the Support Medal, feel that may have been a mistake due to how poor the light machine guns are!

Yea my 2500k @ 4.5ghz gets totally wrecked, especially in MP.

What sort of settings and fps can you play at? I'm wondering if upgrading from 970 to 1080 would make much of a difference.

I normally play on medium about 80+fps, high is ok but a few stutters when action gets heavy.

My I5 3570k at stock speeds it at 100% usage then my 1080 about 50% lol. Still get solid 60 fps so no need to overclock. Finally found an LMG weapon I like, the madsen is quite good.
