Scrap everything I said..... Selbstladder m1916 Marksman is the absolute dogs ********...... Almost guaranteed 3 hit kill, Medium to short range (sometimes long range), 26 round BEAST.... My first few rounds with it I was having a K/D on all maps and modes of something between 3 - 4. If you control fire and not spray and pray its almost unstoppable (Unless you're close range against a autoloader).

I would not be surprised if this got nerfed... I hope not. Because wow.... What a beast.

Also, how or where do I join a few of you on discord? never used it before.

Gave it a go & yeah it's pretty awesome:)

What kind of optics and in particular distance do you guess use?

I seem to be particular poor with any weapons which have scopes greater than 1.5x.

It might be my mouse thats the issue, but I use just 1x magnification on the assault weapons, Medic Rifles and the Support weapons.

Guys - I currently play BF1 on PS4 but fancy moving back to PC. Have been out of the fold for many years. What spec rig do I need to play BF1 with a decent fps? Is it worth spending extra to get 4K graphics or is it a waste of time for multiplayer as I read 4K monitors dont support higher than 60hz.

Have built PC's before but this time around will probably by prebuilt from OcUK.

Depends on your budget..... I have a decent i5 and a 480 and it runs smooth as and looks beautiful. Just get a 144hz 24inch monitor.

Just started playing this as an alternative to my usual games fix with iRacing, and loving it despite getting owned.

Last shooter-ilk I played was TF2 years ago. I'm **** at this, any recommendations on Youtube videos that might offer a few tips with movement, weapons use, strategy etc??

Jackfrags vids are alright for tuts on a fair amount of stuff. A lot of it's team play/learning the levels though.

OMG how absolutely amazing is the War Pigeon mode!

Me and my mate literally spent 6 hours on the mode last night.... We played 15 mins of operations and were like, "Naaaaa lets go back to being whores".... Great mode, it is pure carnage!

In a nut shell its TDM where everyone clusters around one moving point.

I've ended up using the support class an using the suppressor lewis gun, I don't know why people hate it. Find it much better than the MG .15... the kills I get from it are mental!

They buffed the lewis gun (in fact all the LMGs) since launch, it's not as unusable as it was before. Marbleduck has a good run down of the LMGs but I can't link to it due to content.

I tried war pigeons a while back and thought it was quite fun, can't seem to persuade anyone to try that mode at the moment. It's much more interesting than TDM.

Will take a look at it!

I could NEVER go back to TDM after playing that mode! Be good to have an extra player who plays for the objective... Add me if fancy it thegoon84 .

But yeah the Lewis suppressor is a huge step up from the basic support version.

Been doing some revising on tank game play aswel, seems they're quite broke atm

What, again? You're already on my list :p

Due to the car crash changeover from battlelog to origin friend lists in BF1 (origin is 500 now I think and battlelog is still only 100), a lot of people on my friends list don't show up in BF1 (which is still secretly using the battlelog friends list), just in origin.

Here's my BF strategy in a nutshell....

Different concept but same principal. I play the game like I used to play Red Alert 2.

In RA2, I would play the Russians (Iraqi) and spam tanks. 1 miner then straight on to the tank battalions. Immediately start harassing the enemy.

If they try anything else other than trying to match your pace it's simply game over. (Usually they have to play Russian too other wise the Allied tanks get decimated)

It then comes down to the meta game and tank control. Meta game is how you build towards money reserves and how you control your tanks in a tank battle.

If the allies have some how managed to make it this far, the Russians (Iraqi) have the trump card with the Desolator. Game over.

----

Now on to BF1  strategys I have noticed from playing BF games over the years.

Lets say we have 5 flags, the 3 in the middle being the most contested.

The optimal strategy is to to let the rest of your team cap the first two but you (and others should be going like the clappers for that 3rd flag. That's the game winning flag. (3v2) If the enemy isn't doing the same then it's game over from the first few seconds of the game (see the parallels with RA2 now)

The trick is, once you have flags ABC, HOLD like your life depends on it, because the game does!!

Now the opposition will have to throw them selves against your defence to cap that 3rd flag, your defence should be tight enough to hold it. Every man they throw at you trying to take the flag is another ticket lost and one step closer to victory.

Now, this is where most teams lose the advantage, if you decided to go for the other two flags, you stretch yourself too thin, and give the enemy an opening to grab the flags which you've already got (winning advantage already) and potential lose them, opening up the game again.

That's it in a nutshell, the first 30 - 60 secs of any game is really the most critical if your team know what their doing, take 3 flags especially the 3rd flag which your enemy wants not one of first two but the one 3rd from you and HOLD like the game depends on it as it does.!!

There is even a plan B if this plan doesn't work out or if you have done as above but the enemy is good enough to take back a flag, what usually happens is the game flips round and you can regain the upper hand.

So for example, you go like the clappers and take flags abc early on out of abcde. Mid game the enemy manages to take say a or b, the tactic is to let them have it and you just reverse your defence on a pivot and defend from back to front, ie, you go from abc to edc that way as long as you make every second count unless the enemy also is going at your pace and every single man does his job it will be very hard for a team to win, unless they themselves are super organised or just better than you.

Hope that makes sense!

In tight games I have see that if one player takes the initiative and gives orders the team usually listens. I often deploy this strategy during tight games with people that want to win and often they listen and we win.

If you have 3 flags, and hold them it's simple maths that it's game over. So why open your selves up to potential loss by going for the other flags?

It's even in your interest to let them have them, because they can only spawn there and you can control them.

----

You can deploy this strategy at any point in the game really, as long as you've got enough time to make up the ticket difference. If you are coming back from a losing position and manage to grab 3 flags, sit on them!! The tickets will start ticking in your favour, then game simply then becames a war of attrition. If you have enough time you might just claw the game back from a losing position.

This is usually when I come along and start organising the defence, HOLD!!!
