*** Battlefield 1 ***

Holy **** but the 'balance' is now worse than it has ever been. Since the last patch I don't recall having a game that finished within 300 points.

Yea they really need to sort that, just switch server if that starts happening.

Just need one good squad all on Comms to make that happen if there isn't an equivalent on the other team, 2 squads on one side and game over....

Also some players will watch for that and teamswitch which makes it worse.

I appreciate it would **** a lot of people off, so likely never happen, but the game needs to more aggressively balance during each round, so every 250 tickets swap the top performing squad from one team with the worst on the other, or something like that.

Amazing this.

Wow, stunning. Where did the custom animations come from though? Single player campaign? I spent some time being a dummy for Hornedal for some cinematics he was making so I have an idea as to how much effort goes into these things, filming 1 sec can take 30mins or more to get it right.

Looks like the next DLC drops Tuesday. Apparently it includes new specialisations which are afflictions. Sounds like a terrible idea TBH.

Edit: Looks like they're not so bad after all, you can chose to gimp yourself for a challenge basically.

Hey folks,

I'd like to share a message from one the Afflictions designers with some more details and insight into the intent behind them. Here we go!

AFFLICTIONS

While we’ve been attempting to make the Weapon and Service Assignments more approachable for more players, the skilled players are now missing the element of challenge those used to provide. Afflictions are meant to fill that void; offering an added challenge that is completely voluntary but can be worn as a badge of honor (since your victims will now see your active Specializations on the Kill Card). Afflictions won’t unlock until you’ve made substantial progress on Service Assignments and will be required to unlock some truly unique Dog Tags.

Death Toll

Lose 200 points each time you die, after the revive window

Death Toll was designed for the player that’s always at the top of the leaderboard. Someone playing with Death Toll will either need to be confident in their point scoring ability or in their ability to cheat death. Since the points aren’t deducted until you go to the deploy screen, you can still avoid the penalty by being revived.

Peacock

Once spotted, you remain spotted until death

This one is for sneaky players looking for an added challenge. Since an enemy needs to spot you for the Affliction to take effect, you can be extra careful and remain unspotted. This one will also appeal to players that already like to be in the thick of it and don’t mind being seen.

Scavenger

You can only carry one magazine per weapon

This is my personal favorite. Scavenger makes each shot valuable, but also forces you to rely on the weapons dropped by your friends and enemies. Frequently switching kits on the fly creates new challenges that you have to quickly adapt to. The real challenge with Scavenger will be to see how many kills in a life you can get.

Reaper

Receive 1 damage per second, but performing a kill pauses the effect for 10 seconds

Reaper is designed for the player that is confident in their ability to get kill streaks. As long as you are getting kills regularly this will be no sweat. However, since you are constantly taking damage you are always considered in combat, so you won’t be able to heal while the Affliction is active. Make sure to get a kill when health is nearby for maximum efficiency.

Paranoia

You cannot remove your gas mask

If you’re already a player that likes to get up close and personal, this one should be no problem. The gas mask limits visibility and prevents aiming down sights, but at least you’ll be safe from any deadly gas. How long can you last before the claustrophobia gets to you?

Couldnt think of anything worse to add into the game personally. Its bad enough getting a bit of team work going as it is and it always seems like I end up on the opposite side to the team that has 3 clans all working together.

Ill be in a squad then with some dude running round in a gas mask the whole match. One guy giving the whole squads position away until hes murdered and one dude with nothing more than 30 bullets each life...

Couldn't think of anything more frustrating on a game that really needs players and squads working together to be fun.

BTW that video you posted is amazing. Some people have real skills

I have also helped hoodoo_operator with his cinematics. These are custom animation added in using hatti tools.

lol, it's just what you want when the balancing is still broken. A team of people with afflictions :D.

Bob forgot his ammo, Jeff is maimed in one eye. Gregory runs with a limp.

But they're so good it won't matter /s

Afflictions just seems like a really bizarre addition - I can imagine it would be a frustrating experience running one, both for you and your squad/ teammates
