Everytime i get onto a server my game just completely locks up and i have to 'end task'. Im pretty sure Vista x64 is causing this, is there a beta patch out that fixes this problem?
 
Are you running the game as admin and what Nvidia drivers are you using and there is a new beta patch (1.40) but I don t know if it will fix your problem.


I also run on my other system the same spec as yours and have no probs.
 
I'm having the same issues as the OP at the moment, Vista 32bit though. Just randomly locks up completely, have to end task. Hasn't been an issue until a couple of days ago. Tried revertiing to older Catalyst drivers..no luck.

Running x-fire? If so, try turning it off and seeing if that cures it. Look in your error log, and most will be todo with an x-fire exception I expect.
 
Just done a fresh install and updated to v1.40, only problem is it only comes up with 30 servers, most being 'official highway tampa server'. Apart from that running nice and smooth :)

EDIT: Now i keep getting kicked by punkbuster, how do i stop this?

I've got the exact same issue.
 
Ok ive fixed the Punkbuster problem only for a new problem to arise. Im getting major lag and its not fps lag cos im at around 40-50fps with everything on full. Could it be something to do with Vista x64 and the new beta patch?
 
Complete opposite for me. Game would randomly crash with xp 32bit, vista x64 and it runs fine, fast, no stutter / titan lag, stable and worth playing. Latest drivers and spec as per sig.

Your firewall not causing a crash?

You've got the beta patch there mate, thats why you can only see 30 servers, and maybe why you are getting kicked by punkbuster?

EDIT: Unless of course you already know this? :)

I do now, but only for the past few weeks or so and I've been using vista since it came out. Very strange how these problems are occurring all of a sudden, for me at least.
 
Just been browsing the BF 2142 forums and it seems that all the crashing/locking up in game is down to the 1.40 beta patch. I strongly recommend that everyone stick with 1.25 as 1.40 is terrible to play on.
