Battlefield 2142 Demo

Dang i just linked this to 2 mates

Is it really not worth it ? IS there any playability in here. I dont want to be bitched at for a 1.3gb dload only for it to be plagued by errors and there being no servers.

Downloaded-installed had an DX9 issue just added file it wanted- started and been playing since?

Not all bad, I'm on this for the weekend not.......................

Well its not too bad, apart from the fact i'm getting disconnected from the master login server every 30 mins. Might open those ports on my router tomorrow and see if that sorts it.

just played it... so far i am not having half as much fun as a regular game but i will give it a few more days in a (probably futile) attempt to drum up some enthusiasm for it. the game play just feels very messy :( anyone else feel this ?
if BF2 is a nice neat fried egg this thing feels like runny scrambled mulch.

Having never played BF or BF2 im kinda looking forward to giving it a try, shame im only getting it at 50kbs and still have a few hours too go

Good start, lol

its nasty, this reminds me of the last ut and quake series.

I also though it was a lot like Unreal With the vehicles and stuff, especially Titan mode. I think EA are competing for that end of the market as Unreal 2007 and Quake Wars Enemy Territory are due to be released.

I think EA are competing for that end of the market as Unreal 2007 and Quake Wars Enemy Territory are up for release and all bare similarities to the Battlefield series. I think EA have bit off more than they can chew this time. They should fix BF2 before releasing 2142. A guy on another forum who said he works for EA said they are stopping support (patch making etc) for BF2 once 2142 is released. I personally think more people are gonna stick with BF2. I'm gonna buy 2142 anyway, have pre-orderd it but i think I'm gonna be dissapointed. I have bought most battlefield games , mods etc, Battlefield 1942, Secret Weapons of World War Two, Road to Rome, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2, Special Forces, Euro Forces, Armoured Fury.
I really hope the game itself is a lot better than the demo otherwise I think it is doomed. I think this is gonna split the Battlefield community, its gonna be one of those games. U either love it or hate it.

You need to update your DirectX....."
In an effort to reduce download times the Battlefield 2142 Demo does not contain a DirectX installer. Please be advised that in order to play this demo players must have Directx9 installed and should ensure that the d3dx9_29.dll is present in your C:\WINDOWS\system32. We look forward to playing online with everyone. See you on the Battlefield"

Up on fileplanet now, but no widescreen support  what are EA smoking

put the resolution command line in,,,,,,,,,,,right click on icon, click in properties, put this command line in target EXCEPT for the resolution size, alter that to your own desired resolution, apply then off you go

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142 Demo\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 720

I'm not surprised this is a POS, the beta was crap too. Hopefully hardly anyone buys this and that will be the end of the BF series. No doubt we'll see a lot more crappy titles from DICE though.
