And another post for me, i think ive got my error sussed, ive setVoipEnabled 1 to 0 and i was able to play 1 game, will try again later to see if i can still play.

went into res menu and its the same as before (800x600, 1024x768, 1600x1200)

unless what they mean is they allow it to be changed in the config i guess..

You have to right click on your icon choose properties and then change the Fullscreen to Widescreen in the target box, then the new Widescreen resolutions will be in the options menu. True 1680x1050 goodness at last

? there is no option to *change* fullscreen to widescreen.

While Battlefield 2142 Update 1.50 adds widescreen functionality, it is not available by default. Widescreen mode is currently a beta feature and has some minor graphical issues regarding the weapons in game, however these do not affect gameplay. If you would like to activate Widescreen functionality please use the following steps:

Locate your Battlefield 2142 shortcut

Right-Click and select Properties

At the end of the Target line you should see +fullscreen 1

After this add +widescreen 1

You will now have widescreen resolutions available in Video options in the front end

apparently you get some graphic corruption but i'll give it a try anways..see if it makes a difference. cheers

I've tried reinstalling 2142 just to see this update and I get BF2142 has stopped working (vista x64) anyone know why?

Did you look at my post about the audio.con file? try setting the Voip from 1 to 0 it worked for me.

A couple of points ive seen so far, not sure if it was due to this patch or the previous one but sentry guns seem to be pretty usless now, i can run right past them without taking too much damage and the AA guns seem to be nerfed as well doing very little damage to the flyers

I think widescreen might actually have the correct FOV. I haven't done any testing, but it doesn't look chopped... I don't think.

If it is chopped then I am seriously amazed by incompetent they are. Widescreen isn't a difficult thing to do, it's 2008 for pete sake, a large number of us are using 16:10. The worst thing is I still had to add a command to the shortcut to activate it, that's what I was doing before! So we have to wait 'till the next patch for proper implementation? We'll have to wait 'till 2009 for widescreen support that is out of beta? Ridiculous, these things get right on my wick.

You will find the audio.con file in your documents folder in bf2142

C:\Users\Daggra\Documents\Battlefield 2142\Profiles\0001

is where mine is, if i remember rightly any changes here will also change the default audio.con so no need to do both.

Maybe it wont run because that folder doesn't exist for me

I've reinstalled several times but seriously WTF?

EDIT: Sorted it - please don't ask me what I did wrong. I didn't have to do any modifying either once I had it installed properly....

right click the shortcut got to properties u will see this

"E:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

add +widescreen 1 so they will show up in the options, so it will look something like this

"E:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +widescreen 1

So can it do 1920x1200 now? Might have to find my cd key and reinstall this.
