Clark 12b Shotty is the only gun you need :)

2142, simply brilliant game .. balanced , great maps and never seen a cheat since release

Nah, it's much better than some other games in terms of cheat prevention, but it's certainly had it's share of glitchers/cheaters over the years.

with 2142 you had unlocks that legitimately gave you the same things that dirty cheats use which kind of made cheating redundant imo, i must have played over 600hrs of bf2 and encountered quite a few hackers, yet the same time spent in 2142 (and i could be wrong) i dont think i came across any obvious ones (not saying there werent any)

the infantry scanners and deployable turrets were superb unlocks, it was great being able to see behind walls where the enemy was ..

until they patched it a few times there were glitches like getting inside crates on a titan using your turrets or spawn locaters etc etc but overall the gameplay was a lot more balanced and you didnt get any of the stupid dolphin diving insta prone cowboys ala bf2 ;p

re-install time, i need me some clark+gibralter goodness :)

The Voss is easier to use, it's higher rate of fire does make up for it's lower accuracy, but if you put the effort in, the Baur is a much better gun.
On the downside, it's clip is a little too small, the recoil is pretty awful too.
I made some distance kills with it that I'd have been proud of with a sniper rifle, if you add that to the rockets (which you should deffo unlock and learn to use) it's a truly formidable weapon.
 
I pre ordered 2142 and register with the vet program when it was first offered.
Stopped playing 2142 about 8 months ago and went back to BF2, I don't know why I prefer bf2 and yet I love sci-fi.

Wife is out shopping this Saturday so I have the day to my self, think I will install 2142 again and northern strike, do many people play the northern strike add on?

Also which 64 player servers are good?

Northern strike imo contains both the best maps and the best vehicles BF2142 has to offer. The hover car thingy is just epic when you learn to drive it well.

Unfortunately i've lost my BF2142 disk, so i'm completely unable to play and unwilling to rebuy it at present as they're too many new games about for me to sink my teeth into so you won't see me online.
 
Think I'm going to work my way up the player abilities tree and unlock all of/most of them and then work my way up the Baur assault tree - sounds like a good gun, especially along with the rocket launcher attachment.
 
I used to play 2142 all the time until I moved to vista, loved the game, but it hates vista and no matter what I try (hacks/configs) nothing seems to make it want to work, even though other people have no problem with it on vista. :(

I had plenty of issues with it on Vista 64 to start with, but got them all sorted eventually, it's mostly punkbuster hassles really.

What problem are you having with BF2142 and Vista?

Only problem I had was Punkbuster kicking me, easily solved by running the game in administrator mode.
