Battlefield 3 getting nerfed

not a nerf, its for gameplay reasons.

bf3 got tanks, planes, guess what would happen if all buildings was down?
plane would rape ur asss open every time

I disagree BC2 had tanks and that was fine. It was only after playing high ticket matches (500 tickets or so) that you ended up with the battlefield being a big pile of rubble.

I suspect that maybe this is just for the console versions.
Im not expecting every building to be destructable because that certainly wasn't the case in BC2 but I would like to see a fair few fully destructable buildings on each map. Also please no MCOMs in destructable buildings, it sucks when you play a **** team in rush and they cant break through so sit back and mortar the building to destroy the MCOM. Not cool.

I'm not liking this along with the "eSports/competition orientated" statement.

Sure, being able to flatten every single structure is too much, but severely limiting destruction to facades ONLY would be total naff.

Catering to eSports unless that is your only goal is always complete balls. It's a waste of time and penalises the general gameplay mechanics and enjoyment far too much. CoD can do that whole eSports nonsense with their face paced, no-scoping, bunny hopping bull. No place for that in BF3.

Quite frankly I do not think you can have destruction in an eSports focused game - PERIOD. Trying to balance around destruction in this way seems idiotic.

Lol quake 3 was and still is no 1 esports game as far as I am concerned.

Indeed.

I blame consoles to be honest.

Would not be surprised if they are the cause somewhere.

Most publishers are afraid of releasing a better PC SKU than the console variant.
 
I think this is a good thing, I found it quite annoying in BC2 when you find a good building and 2 seconds later a bunch of noob tube and rocket launcher guys just spam the build and blow it up, Thus leaving you with no cover.

Dont get me wrong i like the fact that you can kill campers and destroy cover, But i find it takes away the fun of the game being able to just stand there shooting rockets at buildings and getting kills.
 
Everything was going so well and so someone at dice had to do something stupid to throw a spanner in the works.

yea... anyone remember red factions multiplayer? you could make trenchs and holes through the sides of terrain it was awesome and didnt spoil anything

You are not supposed to be able to "find a good building" and fire from it without fear of being outed.

It's the main point of destruction - a dynamic battlefield.
 
I can see where they are coming from but i would prefer to have the option of a hardcore server with 100% destructible and normal servers with 75% (fore example).

Although I can imagine planes/helicopters bombing around on a completly levelled map would not be fun for the guy on the ground!
 
Glad they have done this, the destruction was OTT in BC2 imo.

Totally disagree.

Battlefield is a middleground between Sim and Arcade war shooters.

It's a warzone, not an arena. The destruction is entirely appropriate for this type of game.

Battlefield is not and should never be 'Arena' eSports orientated and as such the level of destruction could be 100% realistic and it still be fine.

BF is not CoD
BF is not Quake
BF is not CSS

None of the above would work with destruction which is WHY they are popular competitive games.
