Battlefield 3 getting nerfed

I thought the destruction in BFBC2 was over the top, buildings just don't come down that easily. What would be good is if bullets, shells started fires that slowly spread through buildings, gutting the insides.
 
Totally disagree.

Battlefield is a middleground between Sim and Arcade war shooters.

It's a warzone, not an arena. The destruction is entirely appropriate for this type of game.

Battlefield is not and should never be 'Arena' eSports orientated and as such the level of destruction could be 100% realistic and it still be fine.

BF is not CoD
BF is not Quake
BF is not CSS

None of the above would work with destruction which is WHY they are popular competitive games.

I disagree with those that think BC2 destruction is OTT, this was one of the best parts of the game. C4'ing a building with a squad camping in the roof space and getting 4 destruction 2.0 kills. If this is as bad as I think it is, they may be able to just sit up there and spam rockets/grenades/LMG until the cows come home - thats not a good thing.

It's only really when admins started messing around with the ticket numbers does the destruction become an issue. A SQDM server with 100+ tickets become a flat terrain with no cover after 100 tickets and thats why I tend to avoid high ticket servers.
 
Moreover, destruction was one of BC2's USPs, and is one of Frostbite 2.0's USPs. Taking it out seems an idiotic step. Why not make the amount of damage certain structures can take be so high as to discourage lamers from carpet bombing/shelling the entire map?
 
If BF3 had BC2's level of destruction it would epic fail.

That level is fine for BC2, I just mean it wont work as well in BF3 where you have 4-5 jets and 4 choppers flying around strafing and bombing the living crap out of everything. Playing infantry on a map like that just wont be fun.

Damage is done to façades built onto structures, rather than the actual structures themselves – you’re not going to be bringing buildings down in Battlefield 3 like you did in Bad Company 2 outside of scripted moments in singleplayer and possible hard-coded objectives in multiplayer.


D2.0 is not gone. Not at all.


Sorry but only being able to damage a tacked on a facarde and not the actual structure is pretty much the whole point of D2.0 totally gone.

If that's what they're doing just rip it out all together and give us just decals like we normally get and save us all a **** load on the hardware specs and server spec.
 
You are not supposed to be able to "find a good building" and fire from it without fear of being outed.

It's the main point of destruction - a dynamic battlefield.

I understand that, But it turns into people just randomly shoot rockets and tubes at buildings and get kills, Thus taking away the tactics of cover.

Also having planes and helicopters with that level of destruction would make playing infantry pretty frustrating to say the least.
 
Not surprising. BF2 got nerfed to buggery.

Remember when people used to all climb in the Blackhawk and cap flags quicky because you had 5/6 people as passengers? They stopped that which was disappointing. You had an awesome bonus when you took down one of those helicopters with 5 or 6 kills!

I used to love taking them down.
