Battlefield 3 - Gpu usage spikes

I've put a similar thread in the Graphics forum http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18624228 but I'd thought I'd see if anyone else has had similar problems before.
I have a new PC , xfx 280 dd , amd fx8320 and gigabyte 970a ud3p motherboard.
Constant GPU usage spikes on msi afterburner.
I've been advised it's probably a cpu bottleneck but has anyone else had similar problems before or resolved them?

What is the fps at when your GPU usage is low?

Have you got a screenshot of these spikes?

Around the 40s, sometimes 35+.
As per my other thread on the original post i believe i may have sorted this(touch wood).
In CCC i didnt know there was 2 power options for the cpu. I had one set at 3500mhz (stock) and the other was defaulted as 1500-3500mhz. I changed this and walla.
Intense action fights etc are now putting my.gpu usage in the 90s at the times i need it.
