Battlefield 3 Keeps Crashing :(

Hi there everyone,

Sorry for the wall of text but...

I'm having massive problems with Battlefield 3 at the moment. Every time I play multiplayer, I can play for about 10-15 minutes before it crashes into a still image with a buzzing sound coming from my headset.

I have tried everything to determine what the problem here is, but unfortunately I can't find any problems with my PC that could be affecting this.

I have tried turning all the graphics options to the bare minimum, but that still doesn't work. :(

I have also tried all the little picky points, such as full screening / windowed modes, but even then that doesn't work.

I have even read about BF3 not responding to programmes such as MSi Afterburner, Core-Temp and other programmes such as these, so i have shut all of them down and have made sure i have no other programmes running, but still... No luck.

Was just wondering if you very helpful people of OcUK's Forum have experienced this and know what to do, or know the problem in general.

My PC Specs are:

X58-UD3R Motherboard

i7 920 running at 2.66ghz - Not overclocked
NVidia GTS 450 - Not overclocked
8GB Corsair XMS3 RAM - Not overclocked

Akasa Venom CPU cooler

thankyou in advanced for your assistance as this is getting rather annoying now. :(

My system is stable.. It's on a level surface.. *ba dum*... *ttsss*

:D well, back to the serious side, my system is "stable". The only thing it ever crashes in is BF3, not on Bl-Ops, MW2, Crysis 2, yadda yadda yadda, and they're all on Max graphics. Which is strange.

Something else to try dude if the above doesn't work.

Try disabling UPnP on your router, seem to remember reading a thread on BF3 support page about Realtek soundcard and that. As a result you may have to do some port forwarding though.

Fingers crossed we will be out of the alpha soon and they will begin some serious testing & patching on BF3.

At work atm so can't link the thread but go to the fourms on battlenet and then into the technical support, should be a sticky there

Thankyou Karma for your suggestions :) I will try them when I am home and let you know how it goes.

What I don't understand is that if it was a UPnP problem, wouldn't it just disconnect me or would it really crash my entire PC? :S

Well I have a the following system and it locks up for me after 10-20mins crashing to the desktop, cannot use task manager to see what is going on as it freezes up etc probably something running and chomping up the computer.

Anyway
Intel 2600k 8gb ram, p8p67 deluxe, SSD and Raid for hds, xfire 6870,
Tried a few things so far
disable cat ai
disable realtek sound card although was using g35 headset.
reinstalled funkbuster

Will do some more tests when i get home tonight.

Really annoying such a sweet game ruined by bugs. Oh yeah one other thing

I cannot launch a quick match either:(

Anyone have that problem.

Ran furmark for 20 mins seems ok to me, and again its the only game that crashes everything else just works.

Pah

Hope this gets resolved soon will try the sound thing mention in this thread and report back laters, roger over and out:)

Bump up the voltage on your card with MSI Afterburner. My mates was having the same problems as you, I advised him to do that, and he hasn't had a crash since.

I would also like to know how much to put the voltage up by. Having said that, it would make sense that it's the graphics card, as mine's freezing within the game. No crash to desktop or anything so it's not a file error. The game is staying as is and is just freezing with the annoying buzzing. I will try again today when I am home, but if there is no luck, I will rebuild my PC tomorrow when my new Cooler Master case arrives :)

Thanks everyone for your help :D if anyone has a definitive answer to this, it would save many people a lot of pain :P

Same problem here have tried everything since day one, can play the SP great but my record for the MP is 13 mins 25 secs. I'll just wait for a patch in a couple of months.

This has started happening to lost of people since Dice put out astealth patch a few day ago and is connected to Nvidia cards as it started happening to me on Tuesday but prior to that i played for a whole week without a crash.

Think Nvidia are releasing some new drivers soon to sort it.

Mine's been happening since the launch date. :(

I managed to play one full game, then crashed on the scores screen lol :L

To me it just sounds like you have an unstable system. I know of no-one that has had the amount of problems you seemingly are experiencing.

Everything else is fine. My computer is built only from items I've bought from Overclockers.

As mentioned above, I can play all other games, do everything else on my PC... just not Battlefield 3. I can play BF2.. Just not 3 :L
