map is mentioned by name, called “Baghdad Burning”, and appears to be a massive urban map, similar to BF2’s very popular “Strike at Karkand”. The game is powered by “Frotbite DX”, currently the Frostbite engine is used in Battlefiled: Bad Company on PS3 and Xbox 360. The “DX” could refer to DirectX (10?), a PC version of the Frostbite engine

Nice to see the Frotbite engine coming to the PC :)

Do we still have the option to prone like mad with infantry seeing as apparently thats the only tactic available in bf2?

This is something that would definitely make me get a PC upgrade. For my money Battlefield 2 is the best game released on PC in the last 3 years (I'd say since Max Payne 2 possibly).

However... 8 maps really isn't a whole lot...

Just because it holds the battlefield name it will be a hit, I just hope they get the feel and gameplay right, also loving the depth of customization they are planning, 56 different weapons + custom ammo/armour.

The battalion feature sounds very cool, something which I think was done very well in bf2 was the squads and orders system, that was truely original and new for me, I can only see this as taking it to another level and making it that much better to be a commander. (and a man on the ground, watching it all come together first hand)

Anybody remember when the BF2 demo first came out? Gulf of oman, good map but what was even better is that nearly everybody was using VoIP and squads. I remember joining a demo server and joining a squad, starting as USA the SL would have us form up in the garden area that was just before the crane objective (forget the name), he would tell us what he wanted to happen...

Squadleader: "Okay the two machine gun support players and the rifleman, when I say go run and go prone on the railway banking and cover our advance across the open, keep an eye for snipers, if you see any suppress them. Everyone else follow me, were running across to the wall. When we get there you guys catch up. Got it?"

Squad: "yup."

And you know what, it acctually worked and was very fun to see happen, but as we all know now the support guns couldnt hit diddly at that kind of range and if they did, they did bugger all damage. But thats the thing nobody did know that so everyone in the tower took cover and didnt dare peak out because if they did they would get a hail of fire from the guys covering.

That was before the days of instant headshot kills from the guy who plays to damn much and knows every trick there is, but now thats everyone so its a totaly different game.

Anyway, BF2 Demo, best game Ive ever played.

thats so they can rip you off with map packs and the like :)

They should have made a carrier assault game type too. Instead of a Titan, Huge aircraft carriers, would have been a lot of fun and fit the game type perfectly.

With that feature list it sounds like Battlefield 2.1 to be honest. I can picture a load of execs in a room trying desperately to come up with new 'features' to distance it from the current one.

EA should just name it Battlefield '08 and be honest about it.

Personally I felt the maps in bf2 were some of the best maps ive ever played...strike at karkand in particular. Bf3 does look like bf2.1 though, what happened to Battlefield: Bad Company or was that console only? I know it was more sp orientated but I remember it having the same bf mp formula.

heh, i wished i had played the game u played.... i gave up bf2 in the end as nobody joins squads... nobody follows the commanders orders and everyone just runs around doing their own thing and whoring whatever vehicles they come across

this like bf2 sounds great on paper... but there is no way to account for the fact that the majority of players are n00bs

I agree with You. Is it because you're my mate or because i am kissing some UB butt :D
Or is it because i have been addicted to BF2 since 1 second past 9am on the day of release. Played it religiously for 2k+ hours & still play it now. Think that the Maps are the best I've ever played or the weapon/class choice is brilliant variety. Or is it because i can hop out of a jet after laying some pain & jump into a Tank to Squash my Foes. Or maybe because it's because i can hit people @ 300 metres in the eye with a Nade :p Or maybe it is because i can use single shot properly & constantly get called a Cheat & a Hacker by Auto firing nubs. I think you get the picture.
The only thing i notice about 3 that bothers me is 40 man maps. What the **** is that about. 64 man IO servers are my gaming Heaven not 40 man

Sounds like bf2 rehashed...... Oh sorry i forgot it's EA we're talking about....

I wonder how many features will be dropped between now and release time, has happened with both of the previous battlefields.
