Battlefield 3 Leaked Info

still 80 players....they dont get the net coding right that could go to pot VERY quickly

i dont mind the list of features, but it doesnt build much on the existing platform, just bigger maps and a few extra online features

I think we've seen the last of BF2 patches now, it is quite an old game after all

8 Maps for BF3 really does seem stingy. Eight!!!!!

How hard is it to make a map? The game isn't coming out for over a year- they could make 50 great maps in that time. I'm not saying that it should ship with 50, but something abit more than 8. Like 15 or 20 or so. Give the game abit more life before trying to leech more money out of the gamers with useless boosterpacks.

I loved BF2 and was desperate for more maps, buying SF and both booster packs. While a lot of the maps were good, they were pointless because I have never found a server that rotates standard & booster maps. Boostermap servers were only populated for a couple of weeks before everyone got bored with 3 map rotations and went back to servers with a full rotation of standard maps, and hence the boosters are hardly ever played now.

When was the last time you played a boosterpack map?

The CSS custom map system is much better. If you dont have it, go make a drink while it automatically downloads, hence some servers have tons of custom maps.

No money in that of course. To be fair they do have to playtest each map for everything and all sorts of hacks and glitches which an amateur release doesnt have to worry or care about plus they dont actually stop anyone making their own custom maps all they want

Interesting... Why is there not more information about this though. EA would normaly be hyping this up sooo much, just seems weird.

They should have made a carrier assault game type too. Instead of a Titan, Huge aircraft carriers, would have been a lot of fun and fit the game type perfectly.

indeed, i loved titan assaults, aslong as titans were moving.. making the titans stationary really sucked for me.. i found it completely and utterly pointless. they were also extremely poorly designed.. aircraft carriers would be much better... :)

I just hope they make a hardcore option like COD4! I loved battlefield 2 but having to shoot someone 6 times with an M4 killed it for me. Or better still 2 shots with a .50 sniper rifle!

Just because it holds the battlefield name it will be a hit, I just hope they get the feel and gameplay right, also loving the depth of customization they are planning, 56 different weapons + custom ammo/armour.

The battalion feature sounds very cool, something which I think was done very well in bf2 was the squads and orders system, that was truely original and new for me, I can only see this as taking it to another level and making it that much better to be a commander. (and a man on the ground, watching it all come together first hand)

Anybody remember when the BF2 demo first came out? Gulf of oman, good map but what was even better is that nearly everybody was using VoIP and squads. I remember joining a demo server and joining a squad, starting as USA the SL would have us form up in the garden area that was just before the crane objective (forget the name), he would tell us what he wanted to happen...

Squadleader: "Okay the two machine gun support players and the rifleman, when I say go run and go prone on the railway banking and cover our advance across the open, keep an eye for snipers, if you see any suppress them. Everyone else follow me, were running across to the wall. When we get there you guys catch up. Got it?"

Squad: "yup."

And you know what, it acctually worked and was very fun to see happen, but as we all know now the support guns couldnt hit diddly at that kind of range and if they did, they did bugger all damage. But thats the thing nobody did know that so everyone in the tower took cover and didnt dare peak out because if they did they would get a hail of fire from the guys covering.

That was before the days of instant headshot kills from the guy who plays to damn much and knows every trick there is, but now thats everyone so its a totaly different game.

Anyway, BF2 Demo, best game Ive ever played.

I had similar experiences.

So of the best games of BF2 i ever had were playing as close knit squad with voip when everyone else was free for all.

6 people using the blackhawk to full effect was an awesome sight. Pilot and 2 gunners stay above to cover, squad keeps respawning on squad leader in the bh and parachuting down to rejoin the fight. The Gunners were mechanics and would switch to repairing as needed.

Then there were other matches where i teamed up with some random guy in a squad and took one of the attack choppers for a spin. We would take turns pilot/gunner and the gunner would jump out to take flags while the chopper stayed clear of danger, and call in over the mic for a pickup. We would steal enemy choppers and team up for pincer attacks and when one of us was downed we coordinated rescue mission.

If BF3 can even hint at that sort of fun im all over it and its overpriced expansion packs. (well i wont buy the expansion packs, but i wont badmouth them purely on a point of principle)

cos africa would get pimped by every other faction in the world if a world war did happen:)

Wake island was awful sometimes, although it was fun bombing around the airfield in a jeep running the noobs over waiting for aircraft and helis..
