Battlefield 3 no XP support

CPU is only a bottleneck if you don't notice any performance improvement when you upgrade the graphics card with your current CPU.

Your Q6600 is most certainly not bottlenecking anything, quad cores scale fairly linearly.

ok good so if i get a GTX460 or higher i will notice a big performance boost to BFBC2 and BF3 should be very much playable (good fps)

im on a GTS250 now, i was 'hoping' that it would 'take off' when running a DX10 game, but i find DX9 mode seems to work better on my win7 boot (same FPS just not getting the random 'freeze' that i got under XP that happened after a patch) :(

also is a GTX460 the best option (also open to ATI cards now) or should i get a higher GTX card (~£100 budget, or £110 max net cost) or should i just wait untill it gets closer to the release date and get a card then?

ok i have 4 GB of RAM now, also faster ram (from 667 to 800), yet its still slower on win7 than on XP :(

Aero Glass still uses Resources so disable it every time you run a game by going to the games .exe, right click Properties, Compatibility tab & tick Disable desktop composition.

It will automatically Disable Aero Glass while the game is running & automatically re-enable Aero Glass when the game is shut down.

Depending on the game it can take a few seconds to re-enable Aero Glass.
