Battlefield 3 tips & tricks

Hi

Can anyone point me to some survival tips for BF3 campaign.

I've have a few COD's 2, MW and Black ops on the xbox and have played PC games for 20+ years from Doom and the rest of the ID series, through half life, Fear, L4D, Borderlands etc so would count myself at least an average gamer however I've seen more of the message "you die" than anything else in BF3.

I can't say I'm a fan of the campaign mode as it is... with the forced running to the triangle and do this now scripted events but perpetually repeating it is driving me insane.

I'd like to get into the online action but thought I'd run through campaign a few times to get familiar with weapons, key layout etc.

Thing is I just die in the fire fights, time after time either from snipers or just from the number of bullets. Is there an overall technique of gun and run or is it more tactical with the use of cover etc. It seems at the moment any sort of cover sees me on the wrong end of on RPG.

Quite tempted to give up on BF3 and set about Rage.

These is probably too basic for most players here, but it worked wonders for a noob like me:

1. If you're making medium - long range shots with an automatic weapon then switch to single shot. It will work wonders for your accuracy.

2. The second you're done with single shot remember to switch back to full auto or you are going to get a nasty surprise next time somebody engages you at short range

I completed the last coop mission (finally) on normal and I got 14k score on the leaderboard someone got 69k and the highest in the world was 400k. I heard of this guy saying he was going to exploit the mission, just for reference how do u do that?;)

There's a YouTube video somewhere explaining it. I think it's the last mission after you've disarmed the bomb in the underground and you come up to the surface, you head towards a bank. DON'T go into the bank: once you hit the pavement in front of it the bad guys stop endlessly respawning. You can sit outside and just take them out until you get bored, getting points for each one. Just before you come out onto the street level there is an ammo crate so you'll not run out. At this point you just have to stave off boredom and getting killed to get massive amounts of points.

EDIT: The video is in the BF3 Co-op group thread.

Hi

First of all, the SP is *very* different to online MP. It might help you get used to the controls but the style of play is very different, it's much more fluid and dynamic than the on-a-rail, heavily scripted SP. I wouldn't worry about not enjoying that, just try out the MP and see how you like that. There seem to be a few servers especially for newer players, you could try one of them. Just don't jump into Metro 64 on your first game...

Second, the game is far more tactical and cover based. The SP has a really annoying habit of throwing RPGs at you whenever possible but if you play online and avoid certain maps (like Metro 64 or the Alleyway point in Grand Bazaar) that's not so much of a problem online. Generally if you're not in cover you're probably just advertising yourself to someone as a free kill.

Thanks for the tip on single shot, that's upped my kills no end.

Still to try MP but did get a bit further though campaign though, seems you need to stand in the right place at the right time. There was one bit I lost count of the restarts on so I watched it on youtube then walked straight though on a different route...

Also helps if the mouse is near enough to the receiver so it doesn't get stutter with the wild in combat moves

Cheers
