My trusted old rig is still going strong. I am so tempted to upgrade but not sure I need to.
ASUS Maximus Formula
QX9650 processor
OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 / 800 MHz / Reaper HPC Edition / 4x2GB. Memory
1200W PSU
Oh and one recent upgrade...
GTX 580 OC Twin FrozR II.
I mainly use this p.c for gaming. The new battlefield 3 game seems as demanding as any.
I set graphics on this game to auto..this gave a mix of High and ultra settings.
I got 100 fps on multiplayer. 40-60 fps with ultra settings.
When I do upgrade I look forward to DDR3 ram and a SS drive.
I am sure this processor cost me £700 !!!

No point. You have a 580, Quad core and 8GB RAM. The only noticeable performance increase would be to use an SSD as said.

I previously had a quad core Q8400 @ 3.2ghz and now I have a 2500k and the only difference I have noticed on BF3 is the map loading times (previously people would be off and running before I had loaded the new map in.

Frame wise I have not noticed any difference even though I am sure there is.
