Answer seems to have been overlooked in the B3 forum so,

I hope someone can help me with this.

I am using the 360 controller (which works perfectly btw), the on screen displays tell me what keyboard/mouse buttons to press which is obviously no good to me using the 360 controller.

Does anybody know how to get the game to show the xbox 360 button equivalents instead of the mappings for the KB/Mouse?

Cheers

Is the controller detected in Device Manager? Try sticking it in another usb port so the PC detects it and then launch the game.

Controller works perfectly, its the on screen icons that is the problem, they show as KB/Mouse not Xbox 360 mapping icons :o

I have also wondered this. I think the controller might be good for flying jets? has anyone got input on this?

Most people including me use keyboard mouse for on the ground and the 360 pad for flying the jets. It is a must have when using jets, makes it very easy to fly indeed. You just need to keep it plugged in.

Just a hijack, are you using a wireless controller via plug and play or the true wired Xbox controller?

I am trying to use my controller via plug and play but doesn't seem to want to work. Recognised in Windows 7, just can't get into settings or anything.

Cheers

Plug and play is only the charger it will not work. You need the wireless receiver.

Even on the XBOX plug and play kit does not make the pad wired, on the xbox it does the same thing and that is just charge the battery pack. The pad itself is still wireless with its commands to the console.

There should be 3 different columns in the binding's menu. You need to make sure its on the right column when rebinding as it wont detect the input otherwise (use left/right to select the column in which you want to rebind a button)

Just a quick 'hi-jack' question.

Does the XB360 wired console controller (usb connection) work with a PC? Or do I need a specific PC compatible XB360 controller?

I don't think you have understood the problem.

Same problem for me to, works with the 360 pad via a wire but onscreen prompts request a kb & mouse press.

Worse for me, the QTE don't work with the gamepad at all... i can control jets, tanks and even move around and shoot and aim with a 360 gamepad, soon as you're in the single player campaign and it requests press [SPACE] or [X] doesn't work if its a QTE request but, have to use a keyboard instead (??) works for everything else..

Very weird issue, but 360 gamepad support is a darn sight better then MW3. MW3 doesn't even work at all... But that said, playing BF3 or MW3 with a gamepad with MP is really not advisable..

I had the xbox controller working with battlefield the other day. But now its stopped working even though the pc can pick it up? Has anyone else has this problem? I wouldn't mind testing the controller with the jets.

Not sure if this applies to you. I use a wireless xbox controller and have noticed the controller must be witched on before you launch the game. Doesn't pick it up otherwise.

About which buttons control what options, I don't know how to get the screen to prompt the correct buttons but you can check which buttons perform an action within Windows - Game Controllers properties page - somewhere within Control Panel.

Ah that explains why then. I also use a wireless pad with the pc. I always switched the pad on when in a game.
