seams that with both off the gpus together should be ok for the game, bf3 should support SLI straight out off the box then should be ok like RedStarRiot has pointed and the link, thanks for posting it

The recommended specs include 1GB of Vram, considering BF3 will have big maps how will this be important for people with 1GB or less, i.e will it benefit from having more than 1GB. Will the maps benefit from having more system memory?

So to preserve my files and programs (to save re-installing everything), would you recommend the W7 Upgrade option? Is it pretty much like updating Vista with a W7 SP, easy as pie?
I'd always recommend doing a clean install with a full copy of W7 SP1. Just backup your files, format the drive and do a clean install.

Those specs are fake anyway, it'll probably just mean less stuttering though.

Just FYI, BF3 system requirements can be found @ http://bf3blog.com/battlefield-3-system-requirements/
The recommended spec for bfbc2 gpu wise is a 260GTX. That'll run it on high settings @ 1920x1200 with 2xaa and 4xaaf with 40+ FPS
So technically the same should be true with BF3 and a 460 GTX.

I found with a single gtx 275 that bfbc2 ran pretty poorly at 1920x1200, adding a second really helped. Made the move to a single 470 before adding another. Much smoother, it will be interesting to see how performance will be in bf3 with it's updated frostbite engine.
Let us hope so! I also just realised that Stormar already posted the system requirements for BF3 - my bad.

6950 would be my choice to...that said the frozer version of the 560 oc's incredibly well....but if u can stretch the budget the 6950 is deffo the better card.
I haven't read all of the first page so I may be repeating what someone else has said but the devs at BF3 have said they have no testing rigs in their offices that can max the game. Now I would have thought that the developers/testers of a game as big as BF3 would have some pretty impressive setups. That tells me that you're going to need something insane for max settings.
Or more importantly, current cards will no doubt be cheaper. I'm holding out for a second 5850 for £80 or less for second hand
Agreed, im gonna wait till its released, then see how it performs on my current cards. Then ill have a better idea if an upgrade is needed.
