Battlefield 4 Nvidia Performance Issues

EDIT: I should also note, I have had a Windows error pop up, telling me that I am out of memory and I should try restarting the program (Battlefield 4) to see if it fixes it. First time I've ever seen that error message.

I would say it's ram related. Either:

1) you have a lot running on your PC so 8GB isn't enough
2) 8GB might not be enough anyway but i doubt it
3) Have you deleted your page file? You will need a page file if you only have 8GB ram
4) I can't believe "only 8GB ram" needed to be said, but I guess games are getting more memory hungry and this will only increase with consoles having 8GB ram now.

I'd say option 1 or maybe option 3 are the culprits? With maybe a dab of option 2 :p

Has anyone done a performance comparison of RAM sizes? Is 8gb really too little for Max settings? Last time I checked no game was anywhere near 8gb utilisation. Nothing really indicates BF4 being massively more intensive than BF3.

After what you have said i have tested my old 580 and that has no problems with running it, My Brothers 770 ran smooth 60+ on high settings, Sorry i couldnt help

i ran it on ultra with a friends 780 in my pc and i have only 8Gb vengeance ram @ 1600, I never went past 4Gb using at any one time

surely driver issue. I really doubt 8gb ram isn't enough. Coz if you're running so much stuff in the bg that 8gb isnt enough then you aint playing any game not just bf.

Surely a driver/software issue if this only applies to bf4

Mine peaks just shy of 3GB Ram (BF4 only). 1200p ultra all max. And i use 6gb of ram

Im running 3570K at 4.7ghz with a gtx 680 at stock and 8gb of 1600mhz ram. Playing on ultra settings with 2xAA and it runs silky smooth! I dare say it runs smoother than BF3 did for me. Dont know what fps im getting but its not lagging and i dont get frame drops on single player OR multiplayer.

Oh my days. I can't believe what an idiot I was.

I checked the GPU usage and it was at 0%.. so then I thought maybe it was trying to use the Intel Graphics instead..

>look at back of PC
>nothing plugged into GTX 780
>HDMI cable plugged into motherboard HDMI port :p

Obviously when I came back from a gaming sesh the other day I accidentally plugged it in to the motherboard one. However, I am pleasantly surprised with the performance of the Intel 4600 integrated graphics :D

So yeh, I dun gooded

Thanks for the help though. My RAM usage was at 4GB with just BF4/Origin and Chrome (stupid BattleLog) running

I don't know if i can link something here but i use this it's made my my friend it's safe and all, it will turn off the battlelog (BattleBrowser) when you're in game and turn it back when you quit that game it's just amazing! :)

"BattleBrowser 1.1.1"

Dont know if anyone has clocked this yet, but I hadn't added BF4 to my CP settings list, so it was defaulting to my Global settings which is 16x Aniso , 8x super sample and some other things I cant recall off the top of my head.

anyway long story short after adding it and setting the appropriate settings (aniso - app controlled, Multisample, pref max performance etc) My FPS is a helluva tone better and game looks no different if you ask me :)

Im using down-sampling, everything on ultra except mesh quality on high, 4xMSAA. Resolution scale set @ 100% since I'm already using down-sampling

running on ULTRA settings with O/C'd 3770k at 4.5 and to overclocked GTX670 SLI'd all water cooled. Running sweet, no glitches, crashes or slow frame rates. I'm happy :)

For me the GPU usage is going mental and jumping all around the place even with newest driver on ultra pre-set. Loosing my mind over the random crashes, can't even have my OC on BF4 since it actually crashes it even though it was stables after 3h of unigine.

Yeh I've had a couple of the 'This program has encountered an error' messages and also just being randomly kicked from matches and closing the game. But seeing as EA released this game, I am just happy that I can actually play it at all within the first week of it coming out :D

I wonder how many people do this. In your case it was an oversight, but if you didn't know much about PC's it would be an easy mistake to make seeing as most intel CPU's come with onboard graphics now.

mine all crancked up to max with res scale at 120% because i play at 1680x1050 and i was getting over 80-90 fps in multiplayer but i turned on v-sync so 60fps all the time

I was just about to say this sounds like the memory leak issue bf3 suffered from when using lucid etc...:p

it definitely takes some balls to own up to that one mate! hahahaha none the less, that is honestly gold!

I'm also getting pretty horrible performance. My specs are

4770k @ 4.4Ghz
2x 680s SLI
8GB RAM
1440p monitor running at 96hz

On ultra settings my vram usage peaks at just over 2gb which basically makes the game unplayable. Switched down to high and my vram was staying bellow the 2gb limit but i'd still get massive slow downs. I'll be running silky smooth at ~90fps and then all of a sudden it drops to bellow 5 and stays there. Tabbing out and back in seems to fix it but its annoying. I'm now using mostly high settings (with a few on medium) and no AA which seems to have fixed it for now but its definitely not running as well as it should do.

Also, fullscreen doesn't work at all, just does the same as windowed mode. If I want proper full screen I have to use boarderless which works but is always on top when you tab out which is the most annoying thing. And to top it off every time I start the game it starts in a small window in the top left of my screen regardless of what the ingame video settings say. To get it to go fullscreen I have to switch from boarderless to windowed, click apply, switch back to boarderless and click apply again every friggin time.
