Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

I've not had the guts to move the network slider, I didn't want to upset anything!

any tips?

3) Improve Network Smoothing
We have made some improvements to the ”Network Smoothing” functionality that you can find in the OPTIONS>GAMEPLAY menu. The Network Smoothing slider governs a group of settings that aim to produce a tighter multiplayer experience based on your specific packet loss situation.

If you’ve been experimenting with the Network Smoothing slider earlier, it might now yield better results. If you haven’t tried it before, please explore this setting and set it to the lowest value you can without experiencing graphical glitches in the game. By setting it lower, you can get a tighter multiplayer experience, depending on your specific network situation.

I have read on these forums also, set at 50% then experiment from there.

hope this helps

I found the reg is lot better since the patch / network smoothing slider thingy (set to 10%)
Its night and day to what it was. only thing now is the crashing on round end and the sound bugging out.

Ah well, at least it's progress.

I've had my network smoothing factor at 0%, is it worth upping slightly now?

I must say it seems very smooth for me (running max @ 1680*1050). Although I'm getting quite frustrated at being shot from the most random-nest of places, I can never seem to get proper cover. Also when I do die it seems as though people shoot me from the acutest of angles which is frustrating.

thing is as they improve with patches reg maybe better so you cant point to the network slider doing anything. this is the problem. those with bad connections maybe worth messing with but if you on a low ping and low latency no real point.

WTF is wrong with BF4 and DICE?

After the patch the net code is, if anything, even worse. The 'audio cut out' bug is FAR worse than before.

Within 5 minutes of playing on my normal server I had two deaths where I died at the same time as my opponent. Just silly. This never happened in BF2/2142 (or hardly ever).

Why is it that so many years after BF2/2142 and with better hardware etc, the old games still just DESTROY BF4 with regard to netcode and online gaming.

It doesn't appear that BF4 can even cope with a full 64 player server.

PATHETIC.

Try going 10% each time see if it does make a difference. Mine was set at 50% originally and while I am not saying this slider is the sole reason for improved reg, it may be a factor in it.

Very true. Yet I have low ping (15 - 30 mark) 60mb Virgin Broadband. and before this patch it was like shooting at sponges.

I really do hope it is the case that the slider actually does do something but all I know is since the patch and having a mess with the slider has made the world of difference to me with the game. If Neil79 is right and it is a placebo its a good one :D

The game feels a lot smoother and the netcode has been tightened up. The audio cut bug remains annoying.

I was shocked at the amount of crash fixes are listed in the changelog.

It is pretty clear that this game was not tested prior to release.

Since windows 8.1 update my battlelog plugin don't work it just asks to install it again I tried 3 browsers and everything I could find in the forums at EA zero has worked :P just my luck atm

it would have been tested just the buglists just wernt fixed for launch. EA probably saying they must commit to launch date given.

Can't even play the campaign with the parch dowloading. Are we in for huge patches like in bf3? Buy the game and wait on a 700mb patch. Try to play last night over a gig patch.:mad:

yeah i've watched videos and cannot for the life of me figure out how its done :(, at the end you see them just pointing at empty space then it's "...killed 100"

just read this :

checked my config file and can confirm the command is :

gametime.maxvariablefps

set it to 80 or 120 etc in game as Boot said and it should override to up the fps, hope it helps.

game wise had a disconnect, bit of blurring and jumpyness, hit reg hasn't been badly noticable, and overall not as bad as it has been at its worst.

Thanks

tried the command, but it still seems fixed at 60 ?!

I also uninstalled/ deleted the cfg as suggested

Maybe i should recreate the cfg with a fps command in it?
