Battlefield crashes my pc, help!

hello there.

i dont know why its started doing this, i was on bf2142 last night and randomly after 15 mins it crashed and the image on the screen stopped moving and sounds kept repeating then after 20 seconds of repeating sounds a noise started like a un-tuned radio and nothing respond's once it starts, ctrl alt delete does nothing, even my power button doesnt shut my pc down, i have to restart my pc using the reboot button thing.

and i was on battlefeild 2 a few mins ago and was playing a good game, all was well.. then it just happened again randomly after 15 mins :S

any ideas what could be up? has this happened to you?

btw it doesnt do it on any other game at all, just battlfeields
 
nope, im on a wire, and im not on sky and i dont think its the connection,

it stops my pc responding alltogether its like when a console crashes when it just freezes and does nothing,

its like when a disk has a massive scratch and is so deep that i makes the pc go bezerk instead of just saying "cannot read disk" in but thats not the problem as my bf2142 which it did it on is a demo.
 
does it do that all the time ie hard crashes?

or does it somtiems just freeze and sound loops then it chucks you back to the server screen with a "connection lost message" ?

i get that occasionally. Maybe a few times it has been BSOD crashes instead of dropping me back to the server screen.

I thought it was smt to do with my wireless and sky but maybe not.

Just to obfuscate matters further. I had a look at the BF2142 disk and its a tad strange.....at the centre on the shiny side it is a little bit black like it is burnt?????? wtf :confused:

I was checking it because it had refused to be read by my dvd drive....

apart from that everythings working great....
 
I use to have this problem, turned out it was because Punkbuster didn't like my motherboard drivers, i had to update them.

Confirm for us that playing on a server which doesn't run Punkbuster doesn't cause your crashes?
 
well i wasnt able to play 2142 a few days after patch 1.25 was released, ctd's , bf2142.exe stopped responding etc etc , i had to re-install a few times before it was ok .. perservere , delete bf2142 folder in My documents then uninstall, then put it back on, patch 1.20 then add N Strike, then patch 1.25 .. should work after 1 or 2 attempts .. gluck
 
this had just started for me today, the only difference in my system is i did a windows update last night.

frame rate slows to a crawl then locks up solid
 
Funny enough, I've got problems at the moment, game keeps crashing and sounds looping almost instantly after I join a server.

Only thing that's changed is the windows update last night.

ahhh help! what the hell, i tryed to connect to a none punk server, and now its worse, the second the loading screen came on it screamed its head off did my speakers and corrupt sounds but i alt tabbed out of bf2 and shut it off and the sounds was still there so i rebooted pc, any ideas?? :confused: :( :( :(
 
doh... how dumb can i get, i "accidently" changed my cpu voltage down from 1.425 to 1.4 so after 15 mins of loading things my pc would crash rofl oops...

doh doh! :p
 
This is wierd when i go into add remove programs it says the last time i used bf 2142 was 18/08/2070 that makes me 103 years old
