Asus Radeon R9 290X ROG Matrix Platinum 4096MB £290

Asus GeForce GTX 980 Matrix Platinum 4096MB £560

(I think I have highlighted the correct cards)

Why are these two cards been compared?

They aren't nearly in the same price bracket.

Talk of new/old/gen doesn't matter, people buy on price and performance. Even the cheaper 290x/980 there is still £200 between them.

+1.

Finally someone gets it.

Performance is identical for me in Hardline between DirectX and Mantle in terms of FPS, but in terms of Frame Variance Consistency Mantle is a long way ahead. This is always the key performance metric in 2/3/4 gpu setups for me. :)

I think this game is ace with friends when you all get in the same squad and actually attempt the objectives :)

Plus it runs fine on the 780 I'm using for the moment at 1080p at ultra with 4x msaa averages between 80-110fps and every now and then drops into 70s

I had 2 270x's before and it was slightly better , although I had to enable v sync as the screen tearing was unbelievable
