Ok so I was a call of duty muppet for ages until I discovered Bad Company 2 last year. What I'm basically wondering is, is there a set storyline / timeline to all the series? IE Is Bad Company 2 a sequal / replacement to the last Battlefield game, or is it side by side or what? I know the 194* ones are obv WW2, but I've heard from a mate who played BC2 sp that theres stupid monsters or whatever. Is this like C&C where theres 2 different timelines / universes for the games, or is it all one world?

Bad Company 1 - Bad Company 2.
Battlefield 1942 - Battlefield 1943.

I'm not sure about Battlefield 2 or 2142.

So those are seperate series? As what, alternate timelines / alternate universes, or just simply same world different stories?

Ah right gotcha. So what was the last one before BC2? 2142? 1943? Are any of them as good for mp as BC2 or for gfx? Just curious if I should further explore the series or stick to BC2 and get Vietnam :)

I can definitely recommend BF2 & BF2142, they've just been patched again so player-base has picked up a bit, loads of populated servers. Commander position, 6 players squads (with squad leader) and Grenades & Knife being separate weapons are the main differences, they're capable of 64 player servers but if they're running anything other than 2142 Titan Mode it just becomes a grenade/tube/rpg spam-fest, stick to 32 player servers on 64 player maps 8) for BF2 Infantry Only!

I think the glory days of 1942/Desert Combat mod are over. Same for Vietnam.

1943 was a XBLA/PSN title only, would've been great on PC!

Battlefield Heroes is excellent :D trying to get into Battlefield Play4free but not being able to switch class is a fairly poor move.

Bad Company are the only games with a Campaign, all the others have been multiplayer only IIRC.

Not entirely, you could play the multiplayer maps offline with AI bots, but you are right in that all games in the series besides the Bad Company games had no storyline.

Ok so I'll stick to BC2 for now I think lol. I'm still kinda enjoying the team aspect of it. If vietnam comes out in the EA sale this week I might snap it up.
Did have my own BC2 server for a month when I was more in to it. Was full most nights. Good times :)
