Hi all, I have a problem with my freeview, teh other day when i switched my box and tv on BBC1 was missing, I re-installed channels and there it was, next time I switched the box on it was missing again. I could keep doing this all the time.

So bought a new box thinking the box was the problem, however I now have the same problem with this box when switched off it will lose BBC one, its completely wiped off the box same as the old one. When the channle is installed on the box it has really good signal so that isn't the problem.

The first box was a philips and the newone is a digilogic.

I just can't figure it out at all!!

What about your aerial. Is it boosted?

We problems Freeview when the trees are full (is that the right term?) and blocking the signal.

You are either getting it from Ness Of Lewis or Eitshal, go on the digital uk website and chuck in your postal code then have a look see if you are in a good reception area and are not on a Variable reception.

If you are only loosing BBC1 channel its strange and i would say not transmitter related, If you were loosing BBC 1 BBC2 BBC3 Cbeebies

What modle numbers are the two boxes you have tried?

There is an issue with some boxes where the chipset is out of date and cannot handle particular digital signals anymore, although should only affect boxes post switch over due to the signal increase, you also have a 2k issue which is similar,

Check that the channel hasnt relocated in the 800s.

But if you can get me the Model numbers before 4 i could look.

Yeah, as most people on here will understand Terrestrial signals work totaly different from Digital, Where if you are not 100% in lign of sight to the transmitter you get a broken snowy picture, With digital you pretty much either get it or you dont.

Obviously the lay of the land has a factor to play in it and any obstructions such as Buildings and trees

Some people find everythings hunky dory then one day problems, This can be caused from a number of things like a building miles down the road suddenly getting built and obstructing signal.

Also in some sittuations Digital boosters cause problems, but not always

thanks for some of the thoughts you have, I havent been able to look at it as its actually at my parents house, as for the signal issue, the problem only started recently, the philips box has been in use for like 2 years with no problems then this starts.

Seriously strange.

Will have a look at the boxes next time im round thanks.
