BBC coverage this year

I dunno, NASCAR is USA mainly, who are all tooled up for HD. How many of the countried F1 is either in or broadcast too are fully tooled up for HD? The UK isnt even fully there yet....

I can see Bernies point, kinda, if 50 countries get F1 but only 3 have HD ability...

Quite. He's a businessman, he'll wait until it makes good financial sense in his opinion.

My guess is post-digital switchover, so 2013+ if some of the other European markets have decent HD uptake?

I really want F1 in HD, and we're ready for it up here as we were the first to get the digital switchover. Just a shame there's only a couple of TVs/STBs that can receive Freeview HD and hardly any channels until the majority of the country gets sorted in a couple of years time.

Bernie may just be holding out to extract maximum money from the BBC to get a HD contract. Wouldn't surprise me to see HD announced on Thursday, or mid-season. 90% of the time when Bernie appears to be being an ****hole, he's actually being a shrewd businessman, or drumming up media coverage.

I suspect Bernie got burnt with the interactive digital experiments a few years back. Until there's a sizeable percentage of HD capable markets why lose a load of money on it?

This.

I bet most of the F1 viewing markets arent geared up for HD.

EDIT: mmmm, that HD Japan footage is the sex though....

For the 372nd time...

NO

FOM not broadcasting in HD so no way BBC can.
