BBC HD World Cup Program

You must sit about a mile away from that thing. Either that or you're blind.

I'm loving the HD goodness on Telewest on my 32" Samsung, just a shame there's not much of it.

Looks a fair bit sharper than the BBC1 feed, not the massive difference that is being hyped but a lot nicer.

Some photos i took ;)

Hansens scar was particularly luminous even on my normal SDTV, it must have looked positively incandescant in HD.

What are you watching it on? the match feed on ITV HD is just as good as the BBC game was earlier, looks slightly in factbetter due to the closer camera.

They maybe SkyHD users therefore dont get ITV HD ;) :D imo ITV HD was better quailty wise than BBC HD.

ITs not as great as I had hoped - but stilll better than standard freeview

Been saying this for months...
Personally i say its like pulling a see through film off the screen as if standard def is slightly duller or a little blurred with less visible fine detail.

Although to be fair untill HD-DVD and Blu Ray we wont see it at its best.

Can you guys grab info on the realtime Mbs being transmitted?

The england game was spoilt by the shadows on the pitch from the large screens suspended above the pitch and all the wires keeping it up and the nets in front of the crowd were visible from shots behind the goal and produced squares on the screen.

Is that actualy hd or just upscaled?

Actual game footage is all HD, everything else including studio footage and even seemingly the national anthems is in SD.

ITV 1 looked dire compared to ITV HD today.

SD football to HD football is night and day. Staggering differnce with clarity + motion tracking. The BBC HD preview is also top notch and really shows of HD aswell as anything i have seen on disc, tape or pc hd wise.

All the HD-DVD i have seen so far has been good but no better than digital theatre that ive seen many years ago. Neither HD-DVD or BD have the bandwidth to be mind blowingly better than DVD, but they are better than DVD and certinally add something to the experience.

sorry to hijack but how do u recieve a HD image on terrestrial TV atm? Are you going thru a sky HD box or can u buy freeview HD?
