Ok, as you may know, im now in Paris, working and living.

but i still like the sports on the BBC and can not use the iplayer and from what i can see, there is no way to pay to watch either, seems a little short sighted.

Am i missing seeing a pay to watch button or has anyone else found this too?

There's no way to pay and access iplayer that I've ever heard of. The only thing you could do would be to use a proxy server in the UK to connect to it, but you better darn well make sure you've paid the license fee too, because if I have to, everyone using it should!

strange. i know someone that went to spain and could watch it on their laptop, and they are pretty bad on computers so they wouldn't have set up any fancy tricks to be able to watch it.

I used to use a slingbox when I travelled, which was great for watching tv around the world. Now if you have virgin at home you could watch the catch up on demand channels no problem. :) For pure internet connectivity, unless you had a fast connection in a UK area that you could stream to... I doubt it. Alternatively I guess you could potentially download the recording, copy it locally and tunnel through a VPN for the media usage rights?

You only need a UK TV Licence if you watch LIVE broadcast content on iPlayer and are resident in the UK, all the rest of the content is pre-recorded and as such requires no TV Licence for UK residents.

I have a slingbox at my parents, it works really well although the connection at the location with the slingbox really needs a respectable upload speed.

I would be willing to pay if i could get access, think its a service that is worth it.

Slingbox you say..... maybe time i looked into this :)

Ta.
