I have recently connected my tv to my pc via a hdmi cable and use it in extended desktop, however when I use iplayer on full screen (on the 2nd desktop, tv), it will go into full screen but the picture doesnt strech to fill the entire screen, it will fill the screen on my other monitor but not on the tv, the tv is 16:9 and the monitor is 4:3

16:9 screen

Yeah It's annoying this. It's down to some weird kind of thingwith the HDMI spec I think. Using a VGA it works fine. ATI card by any chance?

The best you can do is zoom on the TV , but this will cut a small eice of the picture off.

I think it may be possible to do something with the browser Zoom functions as well, but it;s been a while since I messed with this.

Related question: is there a way to have iPlayer full screen in a dual screen setup on one screen, without it minimising when you click something on the other screen?

The ''accepted' way to do that is as I mentioned above, set your browser to full screen and use it's 'zoom' function to scale the image so it fits the screen. But it kind of sucks. I player is good but it's not very flexible like a proper media player is.

Speaking of iPlayer, can anyone watch the "HD" versions of the videos on the website without constant stuttering for buffering?

It always pops up a message saying I don't have enough bandwidth, but I know for a fact that I do.

Either BBC's servers are overloaded all the time or VirginMedia are throttling iPlayer hard.

This is Flash, not just iPlayer specific.

It would require Adobe to, well, actually get and do something! And given how bloated and buggy Flash is, I wouldn't put money on them getting it done..

I've seen hacks around for changing it on Opera and Firefox, but haven't yet seen one for IE..

Works fine for me.

even when dling stuff at the same time.

That'll be your problem right there.

I know this is an older thread but i just came across this problem and instead of creating a new one i wondered if anyone has a solution other than zooming in browser as i use Chrome and zooming doesn't work when i'm fullscreen mode.

I am on an ATI card if that makes a difference or if anyone has a suggestion using CCC.
