BBC iPlayer query

I hope this is the right place to put this, if not, please move!

I have my main PC hooked up to my 42PZ70 plasma via SVGA - SVGA and when streaming iPlayer to my plasma I get the 'box' effect with black borders top/bottom and both sides. This happens on both SD and HD streams. However, if I download the content to my PC and then play it, both SD and HD are both full screen :confused:

Any help/info would be great

at a guess, it could be a issue with iplayer.

Have you tried download the videos with this http://po-ru.com/projects/iplayer-downloader/ and playing them with vlc etc?

The mobile videos are really low bitrate though. Definitely wouldn't want to use those on a 42" tv.

Thanks for the replies, the trouble is though sometimes I want to watch a HD version which isn't available to download, only stream. Example was Michael McIntyres comedy roadshow where the HD version of a previous show was only available if you streamed it so I ended up watching the SD version. I agree the quality isn't superb but I sit quite far away from the TV so it isn't a major issue.

Was just wondering if anyone else has this problem as I assumed a few of you would have computers hooked up to their plasma/lcds

Got mine tagged up with my 46" Samsung 5 series. I dont mind watching the standard def stuff and theres normally an option to enlarge the window first then stretch it to full display. The larger window option does increase the quality of the video so do this before extending it over to your TV setup. The hi-def stuff doesnt exactly look as crisp as it should but I guess it has to be watchable without it stopping every second or so...!

No problem here with our 46" Samsung LCD over HDMI.

HD iPlayer looks pretty good tbf.

What resolution have you set for windows?
