BBC now covering esports

They need something cheap to put on BBC3. I try not to pre-judge things but I would guess this is pretty rubbish. However, if someone else wants to take the risk and try it watching it then feel free to point out that I am wrong… :)

I am a "casual" e-sports watcher and I found it fun to watch.

If you are l33t and PRO, maybe it has its flaws but not that I could see :D

"E-sport" is pretty boring to watch tbh.

so are a lot of sports not just e sports..

most people ive asked why they dont like e sports is because they dont understand whats going on..

apex overwatch league is a great way of how esports should be done.. also cs majors are great fun to watch and hopefully same for pubg!

I might give it a look when I run out of stuff to watch then though I'm not sure its viewership potential would justify any licence fee money being spent on… will be interesting to see how many people tuned in & then kept tuning in. I've got a pretty full inbox though with Netflix atm.

The only gaming show that i've enjoyed lately has been Go 8-Bit. I'd probably watch a gaming documentary (like Free to Play, which is free on Steam) but I'm unsure how much longevity this sort of thing would have for repeat viewing.

Maybe so, but Overwatch i would rank near the bottom of spectator friendly games unfortunately :/

Yup, F1 being one of them :)

But at least F1 is a real sport in the real world. Where a bad mistake can get you killed :p

Gaming is fun when your playing, not so much to watch. Anyone can pick up these games and play it themselves, it requires no physical ability.

Neither does Darts or Snooker but both have rather reasonable followings. Stuff like DOTA and LOL will never be big with the casual crowd as they are too complicated and it's quite hard to explain whats going on to somebody who doesn't play the game.

Esports are arguably more relevant today than traditional "carry the pig's bladder" sports. The commentators tend to be in the irritating (to the British sports fan) American style, and in some cases they seem to struggle to adequately describe what is going on (ESL BF4 games were particularly bad).
