BBM equivalent

My current BB 8520 contract is about to expire. I had pretty much decided to get a 9800 Torch, but I'm getting tempted by the iPhone. The whole family have BBs and we make a lot of use of BBM. Is there anything I could use to similar effect between an iPhone and a BB? Or even an Android phone and a BB?
