BBQ Champ on ITV

I think the kind of BBQ she does normally is low and slow - completely different to the grilling side of things...on top of that, ridiculous time pressure and the stress of being on TV would get on top of anyone.

That said, I've not watched any eps of this - just read discussions about it, including a few people that almost ended up on the show but withdrew...

Given BBQ is mostly about low and slow cooking, it does make the format seem a bit of a joke.

This sounds like utter dross so must be worth a watch. I'll download it tonight and see what's not cooking.

The reasons I saw were change of format to the show and aside from that more about the timings of filming not being suitable for them.

A chap at my work who is heavily into BBQ and smoking was asked to be on the show but was asked (at about 2 weeks notice) if he was available for filming for 3 consecutive weeks in June, which he wasn't because of the short notice.

I felt it had a lot of potential but as soon as they mentioned the short time limit on the challenge I was puzzled. Seems they've gone more for the British style of BBQ (which is actually grilling), as maybe they don't think many people over here are to familiar with indirect/low and slow bbqing?

Yeah, turned it into a fritter, couldn't believe it. Sea bass is lovely, what a waste.
I don't think I'll be watching it again either, some of it looked lovely, but some of it was really poor.

It's all finished now. To be fair, the last episode was pretty good as they were allowed some time to actually smoke for a change.

Adam Richmond was the only reason I stuck with it
