Looking to buy a BBQ station, any got recommendations for a budget of £200? Also which options are better in terms of gas or charcoal?

Just bought a gas BBQ today. The charcoal was too much faff and we have finnicky neighbours.
Our garden is a decent size, but just got bored of the old goat next door tutting at us everytime we fired the coals up, so hopefully it'll be a decent compromise and we get to use it a hell of a lot more, or I need to give less of a **** about the neighbour.

Gas or no-gas, you should still be cooking on coals otherwise as you said, it is just a hob outdoors. What's the point in that?Never understand the debate charcoal vs gas. Gas is an outside cooker which still produces nice food, charcoal is an actual BBQ with the work which this entails but with a different feel and results.
Personally, i have a large gas one. But it IS just an outside cooker, which works for me. For me i enjoy a charcoal BBQ, but in a party situation at someone elses![]()

Ah right you mentioned gas as a distinct category to coal when I'd imagine most gas BBQs are still intended to have the food cooked over hot coals....because of exactly what i just said, why this is a debate i'll never know...its just an outside cooker. Same smokey flavour none of the faff in getting it lit. More uniform lighting and heat.
May be my own unique experience then, we had a calor gas powered BBQ that you whacked coals on a separate tray. Worked a treat although bit of a faff to get yourself setup.Gas BBQs usually have a metal grill and a gas burner underneath. No coals are involved.....
Hence they are also called gas grills.
Komodo Style, would never go back to a weber or gas barbecue ever again.
